Clinical Manager - Residential Behavioral Health

Midwest Behavioral Health Center is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and clinically strong Clinical Manager to help lead our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) and Mental Health Behavioral Stabilization (MHBS) programs.Great clinical care doesn’t happen because one person is exceptional. It happens when talented clinicians have strong leadership, clear expectations, thoughtful supervision, and a team that knows how to work together around the needs of each patient.That’s where this role comes in.The Clinical Manager will provide day-to-day leadership for the clinical team, oversee treatment quality and clinical operations, support staff development, and help ensure our programs deliver consistent, trauma-informed, evidence-based care to children and adolescents with complex behavioral health needs.This is a hands-on clinical leadership role. You’ll coach and develop clinicians, oversee treatment planning and documentation, help shape programming, collaborate with nursing and medical leadership, support the team during difficult clinical problems, and understands that excellent patient care and a healthy team culture go hand in hand.What You’ll DoLead, Supervise & Develop the Clinical TeamProvide day-to-day supervision, leadership, mentoring, and support to assigned clinical staff.Conduct clinical supervision and support eligible clinicians working toward independent licensure.Establish performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, complete evaluations, and address performance concerns when necessary.Identify professional-development needs and provide ongoing training, education, consultation, and individualized support.Help identify and develop emerging clinical leaders.Support recruitment, hiring, onboarding, engagement, and retention of clinical staff.Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, respect, and high-quality patient care.Keep Treatment Moving in the Right DirectionOversee assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, coordination of care, and discharge planning within assigned programs.Ensure treatment is individualized, clinically appropriate, trauma-informed, and aligned with patient needs.Monitor clinical progress and help treatment teams respond when patients are not progressing as expected.Provide consultation and direction during complex cases, behavioral emergencies, and other high-risk clinical situations.Promote safe clinical practices and support effective de-escalation and crisis-intervention approaches.Participate directly in assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, coordination of care, and other clinical responsibilities when needed.Advocate for patients and help ensure appropriate access to services and resources.Be the Clinical ConnectorWork closely with psychiatry, nursing, case management, Behavioral Health Technicians, medical providers, education staff, and other disciplines.Participate in and help lead multidisciplinary treatment discussions, case reviews, and clinical planning.Ensure clinical recommendations are communicated clearly and translated into consistent treatment across disciplines.Partner with program and organizational leadership on patient safety, quality, staffing, workflow, and operational priorities.Support continuity of care throughout admission, treatment, discharge, and transition to the next level of care.Build Strong Clinical ProgramsHelp develop and maintain clinical programming and curriculum that meets the needs of patients in the PRTF and MHBS programs.Support implementation of evidence-based and emerging behavioral-health treatment models.Evaluate clinical workflows and identify opportunities to strengthen quality, efficiency, safety, and patient outcomes.Help create the clinical systems, expectations, and culture of growing programs—not simply maintain what already exists.Monitor program and department goals, clinical metrics, and key performance indicators.Promote a culture of safety, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.Protect Quality, Compliance & Clinical StandardsEnsure clinical staff maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, incident reports, discharge summaries, and other clinical records.Monitor adherence to organizational policy, licensure requirements, accreditation standards, payer expectations, and clinical protocols.Support preparation for regulatory reviews, accreditation activities, quality audits, and other compliance initiatives.Help ensure clinical practice and documentation consistently reflect organizational and professional standards.Maintain all required licenses, competencies, certifications, and professional requirements in good standing.Participate in on-call leadership support as assigned.Help Operate the ProgramCoordinate daily clinical schedules and help ensure appropriate clinical staffing.Participate in staffing decisions, recruitment, and retention planning.Work collaboratively with leadership regarding clinical staffing, supplies, equipment, and departmental resources.Balance clinical quality with responsible use of organizational resources.Help solve operational barriers that affect patient care, team effectiveness, or program performance.What We’re Looking ForRequiredMaster’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Psychology, Rehabilitative Counseling, Social Work, Medicine, or a closely related clinical discipline.Active Michigan LMSW, LLP, LPC, LMFT, or APN credential with the ability to provide licensure supervision.Minimum of five (5) years of behavioral healthcare experience.Minimum of one (1) year of substance use disorder treatment experience.Minimum of one (1) year of clinical leadership experience.Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, documentation, and case-consultation skills.Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, coach, and develop clinical professionals.Strong knowledge of behavioral-health treatment, patient safety, trauma-informed care, and clinical best practices.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced treatment environment.Ability to obtain and maintain required behavioral-management, crisis-prevention, and de-escalation certification.PreferredExperience working with children and adolescents with complex behavioral-health needs.Experience in psychiatric residential treatment, inpatient behavioral health, crisis stabilization, or another 24-hour treatment environment.Experience supervising independently licensed and limited-license clinicians.Experience developing clinical programming, treatment curriculum, or new behavioral-health services.Experience working with patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.Experience with accreditation, regulatory compliance, utilization management, payer requirements, or quality-improvement initiatives.Experience helping build or expand a clinical program or treatment team.Why MBHC?Don’t just manage
