Role DescriptionThe Cloud Architect / Software Manager / DevOps Manager is responsible for designing, managing, and continuously improving technology environments, software platforms, cloud infrastructure, and development operations. The role combines technical leadership, architecture, software delivery, infrastructure management, automation, security, and operational excellence.The position involves designing scalable and reliable cloud architectures that support business applications, digital platforms, data environments, and technology services. You will evaluate infrastructure requirements, define technical solutions, and ensure that systems are designed for performance, availability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency.You will work closely with software engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, product, data, and business teams to translate technical and business requirements into practical technology solutions. The role requires strong collaboration across the full software and technology lifecycle, from planning and development through deployment, monitoring, optimization, and ongoing support.Key responsibilities include overseeing software delivery processes, coordinating development activities, improving engineering workflows, and supporting the implementation of effective development standards. You will help establish scalable architectures, technical frameworks, deployment strategies, and operational processes that enable teams to deliver reliable software efficiently.The role also focuses on DevOps practices and automation. You will support the development and improvement of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, deployment processes, configuration management, monitoring, and system reliability. You will identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve deployment consistency, and strengthen operational efficiency.Cloud infrastructure management is another important area of responsibility. You may work with public, private, or hybrid cloud environments and oversee the use of computing, storage, networking, databases, containers, and other cloud services. You will evaluate resource utilization and identify opportunities to improve performance and manage infrastructure costs.Security and resilience are embedded throughout the role. You will work with relevant teams to implement appropriate access controls, security practices, backup strategies, monitoring, disaster recovery capabilities, and risk-management measures.The position may involve leading technical projects, evaluating technology vendors, reviewing architectural proposals, managing technical priorities, and coordinating external technology partners. You will provide technical guidance and support decision-making on infrastructure, software platforms, tools, and technology investments.You will monitor system performance, availability, deployment outcomes, and operational metrics. When incidents or technical issues occur, you will coordinate investigation, resolution, root-cause analysis, and preventive improvements.As a technology leader, you may manage software, DevOps, cloud, or infrastructure teams, establish priorities, support technical development, and promote collaboration and engineering excellence.Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, architectural thinking, leadership, problem-solving ability, and a practical understanding of modern cloud and software delivery environments.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, or a related field.Strong understanding of cloud architecture, software engineering, infrastructure, and DevOps principles.Knowledge of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.Strong understanding of cloud networking, computing, storage, databases, security, and scalable infrastructure.Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation, infrastructure as code, and deployment management.Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or comparable platforms.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices.Ability to design scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective technology architectures.Understanding of microservices, APIs, containers, distributed systems, and cloud-native application design.Strong knowledge of monitoring, logging, observability, system performance, and reliability practices.Understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, data protection, and infrastructure security.Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop practical solutions.Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineering, security, data, product, and business teams.Experience managing technical teams, projects, vendors, or cross-functional initiatives is beneficial.Understanding of disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and high-availability principles.Strong knowledge of version control, configuration management, and automated deployment practices.Ability to evaluate technology solutions, technical risks, and infrastructure costs.Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other modern software delivery methodologies is advantageous.Cloud or DevOps certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.A strategic, technically minded, proactive, and continuous-improvement-oriented approach to technology management.
