The CMMI Level 5 Consultant is responsible for driving continuous process optimisation across the firm, with end-to-end accountability for performance improvement, the design and maintenance of process and Quality Management System (QMS) frameworks, and enabling data-driven decision making across functions.The role requires a process excellence leader who can apply quantitative methods, predictive analytics and structured improvement techniques to raise organisational maturity, while coordinating with service line leaders, project managers and operational teams to embed sustainable change.The Consultant will act as the firm's senior point of accountability for CMMI compliance, governance and appraisal readiness, and will be a visible champion of process excellence, defect prevention and continuous improvement culture.The role carries accountability for process maturity outcomes, KPI performance, audit and appraisal results, and capability building across the firm.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess Optimisation & InnovationLead continuous improvement initiatives across functions, with accountability for measurable performance gains and embedded change.Identify process inefficiencies and design and implement optimisation strategies aligned with firm strategy and quality objectives.Introduce innovative practices and identify automation opportunities to raise productivity, consistency and resilience.Quantitative Process ManagementApply statistical methods to manage and control processes, including Statistical Process Control (SPC) and regression-based analysis.Define KPIs and establish performance baselines across services, functions and engagements.Define, document and maintain processes and the QMS, ensuring fitness for purpose and alignment with CMMI requirements.Monitor process capability and variation, escalating exceptions and triggering corrective and preventive actions.Predictive Analytics & Decision SupportApply predictive models to anticipate risks, schedule slippage, quality issues and resourcing pressures.Use data analytics to support strategic decisions, prioritisation and investment cases.Enable proactive issue resolution through early-warning indicators rather than reactive intervention.CMMI Compliance & GovernanceEnsure full alignment with CMMI Integration Level 5 standards across in-scope service lines and functions.Lead internal and external audits and CMMI appraisals, including readiness assessments, evidence preparation and remediation planning.Maintain process documentation, control libraries and governance frameworks to a standard suitable for regulator-grade scrutiny.Organisational Capability BuildingTrain teams on process excellence, quality practices and CMMI expectations.Promote a culture of continuous improvement, transparency and structured problem solving.Mentor project managers and operational teams, embedding consistent ways of working across the firm.Defect Prevention & Root Cause AnalysisImplement structured root cause analysis techniques across quality events, audit findings and operational incidents.Develop and track preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues at source.Track defect trends and improvement impact, reporting outcomes to leadership and incorporating lessons learned into the QMS.Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical SkillsStrong working knowledge of CMMI Level 4 and Level 5 practices, including high maturity process areas.Statistical analysis capability, including Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control and regression techniques.Process modelling and improvement frameworks, including Lean and BPMN-style notation.Business & Leadership SkillsStrategic thinking and structured problem solving.Stakeholder management across executive, operational and external audit audiences.Change management and transformation leadership, with the ability to embed and sustain new ways of working.Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to translate technical frameworks into practical guidance.QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations or a related discipline.Preferred certifications: CMMI Associate or CMMI Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP (optional)
