CNC Machinist LeadPosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Lead to oversee lathe operations while producing high-precision components and supporting the development of our CNC operations team.The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience setting up and operating Swiss-style sliding-headstock CNC machines, along with conventional CNC/gang-style lathes. This position is well suited for an experienced machinist who can lead by example, troubleshoot machining challenges, maintain consistent quality, and mentor other CNC operators.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, operate, and troubleshoot Swiss-style sliding-headstock CNC machines and gang-style CNC lathes.Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.Perform machine setups, including tooling, workholding, offsets, and tool changes.Develop and maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling documentation, and machining processes.Organize tooling and ensure machines are properly prepared for production.Make CNC program edits and adjustments as needed; most programming is already in place.Use G-code and/or CAM software to troubleshoot, optimize, or make program modifications.Establish and maintain effective in-process inspection and QA strategies.Monitor production for quality, efficiency, and consistency.Troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, and machining issues and make appropriate adjustments.Mentor and provide technical guidance to CNC operators and less-experienced machinists.Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe machining environment.Required Qualifications4–5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience.Strong experience setting up and operating Swiss-style sliding-headstock CNC machines — required.Experience with CNC turning/gang-style lathes.Proficiency with Fanuc and Haas controls.Strong understanding of CNC setup, tooling, offsets, workholding, and machining processes.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.Experience with precision measurement and in-process quality inspection.Ability to troubleshoot machining and tooling issues independently.Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor and support other CNC machinists/operators.Preferred QualificationsG-code programming/editing experience.CAM programming experience.Experience with multi-axis Swiss machining, live tooling, and/or sub-spindle operations.Experience developing setup sheets and standardizing machining processes.Previous CNC lead, senior machinist, or team-lead experience.Schedule & CompensationShift: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PMPay: depending on experience and qualifications.Compensation will reflect the candidate's level of CNC machining, Swiss machining, setup, programming, and leadership experience.
