With a strong focus on quality and on-time delivery, Thermo-Craft positions itself as a versatile and reliable manufacturing job shop.Role Description The CNC Milling Lead – Setup is a full-time, on-site role based in Lynn, MA. This position is responsible for leading CNC milling operations, including setting up machines, selecting tooling and fixtures, loading programs, and ensuring parts are produced to specification. The role involves reviewing engineering drawings, planning efficient setup methods, performing first-article inspections, and troubleshooting machining issues to maintain quality and productivity. The CNC Milling Lead – Setup will guide and support machine operators, coordinate workflow on the shop floor, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize processes and meet delivery schedules. Daily responsibilities also include monitoring equipment performance, maintaining a safe and organized work area, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications Strong CNC milling setup skills, including tooling selection, fixturing, and program loading and verification.Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and performing in-process and first-article inspections.Background in leading or mentoring CNC operators, coordinating workflow, and supporting team-based production environments.Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and familiarity with aerospace, defense, or other high-spec manufacturing environments.Ability to identify and resolve machining issues, optimize feeds and speeds, and collaborate with engineering on process improvements.Commitment to workplace safety, equipment care, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training in machining or manufacturing is preferred.Several years of hands-on experience in CNC milling setup in a job shop or similar high-mix, low-volume environment.
