COBOL Programmer

COBOL Programmer | Location: Cranston, RI | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $50-$63Support COBOL programming requests and application interfaces on IBM Power 9 iSeries and IBM Mainframe systems. Engage in COBOL application development, database management, and system support, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and update COBOL applications, including JCL and CICS components.Support and enhance applications utilizing IBM SQL/DS, ADABAS databases, and VSAM file structures.Design and implement interfaces between mainframe systems and external agencies, including data transfers via SFTP and FTP.Assist EOC operators with runtime errors, troubleshooting, and resolving programming issues.Generate operational, status, and user-specific reports based on system data.Leverage IBM utilities such as Syncsort and MacKinney Systems to optimize system performance.Document application processes, interfaces, and database configurations to ensure comprehensive technical records.Support migration efforts aimed at modernizing legacy applications and systems.Required QualificationsExtensive experience with COBOL, JCL, and CICS programming.Proficiency with IBM SQL/DS, ADABAS, and VSAM file structures.Familiarity with IBM OS utilities, VSE, and intrinsic functions.Experience with SFTP, FTP, and database support on mainframe and AS400 systems.Effective communication skills to collaborate with technical and support teams.W-2 employment status.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Syncsort, MacKinney Systems, and other IBM utilities.Knowledge of application interface development and data transfer protocols.Prior experience supporting legacy systems and participating in modernization projects.About Delphi-US - Peacemakers In The Talent WarDelphi-US is a national IT Services firm based in Newport, Rhode Island.
