Based in San José, the company operates in a professional, fast-paced, and performance-driven environment where team members develop strong expertise in collections, negotiation, and financial recovery.Spartan Capital values accountability, integrity, performance, and teamwork, encouraging employees to take ownership of results and contribute to the continuous improvement of collection strategies and processes.Role DescriptionThe Collections Team Leader is a full-time, on-site role based in San José, responsible for supporting the daily performance and development of a team of Collection Specialists.The Team Leader serves as the primary point of support between collectors and the Collections Supervisor, helping ensure that collection strategies are properly executed, portfolios are actively worked, and individual and team recovery targets are achieved.Daily responsibilities include monitoring collection performance, conducting portfolio reviews, assisting collectors with negotiations and escalated accounts, reviewing account strategies, providing live coaching, and identifying opportunities to increase recoveries.The Team Leader is expected to maintain an individual collection portfolio and meet established production targets while also helping drive the performance of the overall team. The role requires strong involvement in day-to-day collection activities rather than solely administrative management.The Team Leader will also conduct regular one-on-one and portfolio review sessions, document agreed action plans and follow-ups, support training initiatives, and work closely with the Collections Supervisor to identify performance gaps and implement strategies to improve results.QualificationsStrong hands-on Debt Collection experience, preferably in hard collections, recovery, or financial services.Proven ability to negotiate payment arrangements, settlements, and resolutions on delinquent accounts.Previous experience as a Team Leader, Senior Collector, Lead Collector, or similar leadership position is preferred.Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and support collectors while maintaining accountability for results.Strong analytical skills for reviewing portfolios, collection performance, account activity, and recovery opportunities.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to assist with escalated accounts and complex negotiations.Strong understanding of collection strategies, delinquency management, payment arrangements, and recovery processes.Experience using collection platforms, CRM systems, dialers, and standard office applications.Ability to organize and conduct portfolio reviews, one-on-one meetings, and follow-up action plans.Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability in a target-driven environment.Ability to manage an individual portfolio while simultaneously supporting team performance.Ability to work full-time and on-site in San José.Relevant education in Business, Finance, Administration, or a related field is preferred.
