Commercial Director - Constructions

We are seeking an experienced and highly strategic Commercial Director to lead and oversee the company’s commercial functions across Procurement, Contracts, Estimation, and Commercial Operations.The successful candidate will develop and implement the company’s commercial strategy, ensuring strong commercial governance, cost efficiency, contractual protection, and profitable project delivery across the organization.This is a senior leadership position requiring a strong background in large-scale construction and contracting companies, with proven experience managing multiple commercial functions and leading high-performing teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and provide strategic direction to the Commercial Department, including Procurement, Contracts, Estimation, and related commercial functions.Develop and implement the company’s overall commercial strategy in alignment with business objectives and project requirements.Establish and maintain effective commercial policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.Oversee the preparation and review of tenders, estimates, bids, budgets, and commercial proposals, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.Lead procurement strategy, including subcontractor, supplier, and material procurement, commercial negotiations, and cost optimization.Oversee all major contractual matters, including contract reviews, negotiations, variations, claims, extensions of time, and commercial settlements.Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual, procurement, and financial risks throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure effective management of variations, claims, valuations, subcontractor accounts, and final settlements.Monitor project commercial performance, margins, cost commitments, and overall profitability.Establish strong relationships and negotiate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and strategic business partners.Work closely with Operations, Finance, Projects, and Senior Management to ensure alignment between commercial strategy and project execution.Review and approve major commercial commitments and procurement decisions within the delegated authority.Provide senior management with regular commercial reports, forecasts, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team, ensuring high professional standards and accountability.Drive continuous improvement, digitalization, and efficiency across commercial and procurement processes.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.15+ years of progressive experience in commercial management within the construction/contracting industry, with significant experience in a senior leadership position.Proven experience in managing Procurement, Contracts, Estimation, and Commercial functions within a large construction organization.Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial management, procurement, tendering, cost control, claims, and variations.Strong experience in contract negotiations and commercial risk management.Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and high-value commercial commitments.Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.UAE / GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
