Commercial Export Manager – Ocean Freight – San Clemente, CA (Onsite)Keywords: Ocean Export, NVOCC, Agricultural Exports, Commodity Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Account DevelopmentAbout the CompanyWe are representing an established international freight forwarding and NVOCC provider with a strong presence in U.S. export logistics.The business is looking to appoint an experienced ocean export professional who can combine operational expertise with a commercial mindset, supporting existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities for further growth.This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, gain exposure to the commercial side of the business, and develop toward a broader management position.About the RoleThe Commercial Export Manager will play a key role in supporting and developing the company's ocean export business, with a particular focus on agricultural and commodity shipments.This is not a traditional sales position, and an existing book of business is not required. The company is looking for someone with strong ocean export knowledge who understands the operational process but also has the commercial awareness to develop customer relationships, identify opportunities, and contribute to business growth.You will work directly alongside the company President, gaining exposure to customer development, carrier relationships, pricing, and wider business operations.For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into senior leadership or branch management as the business continues to develop.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and develop customer relationships across agricultural and commodity exportsSupport international ocean export operations and customer requirementsDevelop transportation solutions incorporating ocean freight, trucking, rail, transloading, and warehousingWork closely with senior leadership on customer development and commercial opportunitiesSupport carrier negotiations, pricing, equipment availability, and space requirementsIdentify opportunities to grow existing customer accounts and generate additional revenueEvaluate new business opportunities based on profitability, operational requirements, and long-term potentialCoordinate with internal operations teams to ensure efficient shipment executionMaintain strong relationships with shipping lines, transportation providers, and customersResolve operational and customer issues proactivelyRepresent the business during customer meetings and industry eventsTake on increasing commercial and leadership responsibility as the role developsCandidate RequirementsStrong experience within ocean export operationsBackground working for an NVOCC or international freight forwarderPrevious exposure to agricultural, food, or commodity exports is strongly preferredGood understanding of ocean carrier contracts, export documentation, and international shipping proceduresKnowledge of inland transportation, including trucking, rail, and transloadingCommercial awareness and an interest in developing customer relationshipsExperience supporting account growth, pricing, or customer development would be advantageousStrong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skillsComfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilitiesAmbition to progress into a senior management or leadership positionMust be willing to work onsite in San Clemente, CAWhat You Can ExpectUp to $130,000 base salary, depending on experiencePerformance-based earning potential linked to business growthDirect exposure to and mentorship from the company PresidentOpportunity to develop commercially without requiring an existing customer portfolioGenuine progression toward branch management or senior leadershipEstablished operational infrastructure to support customer developmentAutonomy to contribute to commercial decisions and business growthRelocation assistance considered for the right candidateLong-term career development within an established international freight forwarding business
