These values drive SAR’s growth and differentiate it within the global logistics and freight forwarding market.Role Description The Commercial Head – Ocean Imports (Freight Forwarding) is a full-time, on-site role based in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. This role oversees commercial strategy and pricing for ocean import operations, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth across key trade lanes. The position includes leading and mentoring commercial and pricing teams, developing business plans, and negotiating rates and contracts with shipping lines, overseas partners, and key customers. The role involves monitoring market trends, analyzing performance data, and optimizing margins while maintaining competitive offerings. The Commercial Head will collaborate closely with operations, finance, and leadership teams to align commercial decisions with organizational goals and customer requirements.Qualifications Strong commercial management and business planning skills, with experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies.Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen to assess profitability, pricing, and margin optimization.Proven team management and leadership capabilities, including mentoring and performance management.Extensive knowledge of ocean imports, freight forwarding, and international logistics processes.Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, carriers, and overseas partners, with strong negotiation skills.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; advanced qualifications or certifications in logistics or supply chain are an advantage.Prior experience in a senior commercial role within freight forwarding or logistics, preferably focusing on ocean imports.Effective communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Excel and other analytical or pricing tools.
