Commercial Manager

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead commercial activity in Tanzania. The role covers liner, RoRo, and related shipping services. You will define sales strategy, convert opportunities into business, and identify new markets and revenue streams. You will work closely with Customer Service, Documentation and Operations to deliver a smooth customer experience.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain strong knowledge of the Tanzania and East Africa trade lanes, including cargo flows, competitors, freight rates and port and regulatory developments.Work closely with Customer Service, Documentation and Operations to ensure bookings, cargo handling, documentation and customer queries are managed efficiently.Act as the link between customers and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and protect service quality.Define and drive the sales strategy for liner, RoRo and other cargo segments.Build and maintain relationships with shippers, consignees, freight forwarders, agents and other key stakeholders.Identify new potential markets, trades and customer segments.Identify areas to increase revenue, improve yield and grow market share.Prepare PowerPoint presentations, market reports and commercial updates for management and customers.Analyse market data and present clear insights and recommendations.Candidate RequirementsProven commercial, sales or business development experience in the shipping industry, ideally in a managerial role.Hands-on experience in liner and RoRo shipping (container, breakbulk, vehicles and project cargo exposure is an advantage).Strong understanding of shipping commercial practices, freight pricing, trade documentation and port operations.Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to spot opportunities and turn them into results.Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word, with proven ability to produce market reports and professional presentations.
