PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.JOB SUMMARY:The Community Health Educator is responsible for implementation of the assigned region’s community education programs and activities that can include education and training, outreach, and other community services and programs. The Community Health Educator is an integral part of the Community Engagement Department supporting the Education Team. This is a hybrid position based out of our Santa Maria health center.Service Region: Northern Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo CountyESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Implement affiliate’s approved evidence-based, evidence-informed, and internally developed sexual health and life skills education programming with fidelity in English and SpanishSchedule and deliver medically-accurate, inclusive, and developmentally-, culturally, and linguistically-appropriate sexual health education to groups of varying ages, cultures, identities, and backgrounds, with increased focus on low-resource communitiesImplement Community Health Worker/Promotorx(CHW/P) internal education and resource programs, and support the CHW/P network on the Central CoastAid in the development and updating of curricula and community resources under the guidance and supervision of the Director of EducationPromote awareness of the availability of reproductive and sexual health services at local Family PACT health centers, including Planned Parenthood, and make appropriate referralsParticipate in evaluation and data tracking activities that assess quality of programming, measuring impact, and for grant reportingIn conjunction with the Philanthropy Department and the Director of Education, develop and prepare narrative sections of grant proposals and reports as assignedAttend Community Engagement Department and affiliate-wide trainings and meetings, which may be held anywhere within the affiliate’s 3-county service areaServe on department- or affiliate-wide task forces or work groups to improve policies, practices or systems essential to effective operations as neededAttend local, regional, and national events, meetings, and networks as assignedWork with any assigned volunteers and interns, as well as support the Education and Community Engagement teams as neededCooperate with quality assurance activities related to the implementation of the affiliate’s education and outreach programsPrepare and submit payroll timesheets, expense, mileage, and community engagement reports in a timely manner as instructedAdhere to Planned Parenthood California Central Coast policies, procedures and protocolsOther job duties as assignedQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Mixteco language skills are a plusCOMPUTER SKILLS:Proficient use of web-based applications including Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, Salesforce, Zoom, etcPlanned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels. The starting salary for this position is $32.50/hour with an opportunity for an increase after six months of employment. As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.Pay Differential: $1.00/hour bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
