To Apply, please visit: https://ideali.st/pEagfJHuntington’s Disease Youth Organization The Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization (HDYO) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-centered individual to coordinate programs for young people and families impacted by Huntington’s Disease (HD), while also supporting the triage and coordination of mental health support needs across our global community. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community engagement, mental health support, youth advocacy, and creating safe, supportive spaces for people navigating complex experiences related to HD. Position Type Full-time - 40 hours (remote) Some responsibilities may involve time-sensitive community support calls or meetings outside of traditional business hours due to the global nature of HDYO’s work. While this is a full-time position, applicants should be prepared to flex their schedule as needed to accommodate early morning, evening, and occasional weekend support needs. To best support our international community and team collaboration, applicants must be based in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Western Europe. Reports To Executive Director & HDYO Board Support Committee Key Responsibilities Community Programs Coordination Coordinate and support HDYO’s community-facing programs, events, and support initiatives Help facilitate online support spaces, educational sessions, and youth engagement activities Recruit and manage the HDYO Ambassadors, a group of global advocates who often need additional support Build relationships with young people, families, volunteers, and community partners across the global HD community Collect feedback and help evaluate support needs and opportunities for future initiatives Mental Health Support Triage Serve as an initial point of contact for community members seeking emotional or mental health support Respond to support inquiries with empathy, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries Assess needs and connect individuals with suitable local, regional, international, interpersonal or virtual mental health resources Maintain referral pathways and resource databases Work collaboratively with partner organizations and professionals to strengthen support networks Escalate urgent or high-risk concerns in line with safeguarding and crisis response procedures HDYO STRIVE HDYO STRIVE (Supporting and Training International Voices to Excel) – As a dedicated advocacy organization for young people impacted by HD, we have a responsibility to champion support needed for professionals helping youth and young people across the globe. This network will collate established resources and provide support (excluding financial) for international program development. This position will: Guide and consult on the global needs of support workers to assist in creating this interactive and educational platform Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of continuing educational resources for global youth and young adult service providers Communications & Collaboration Work closely with the communications and programs teams to ensure consistent community outreach Help create supportive, inclusive, and accessible communication materials Represent HDYO in community meetings, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives when appropriate Collaborate with the HDYO Committees for website content, including new and established resources for the community Qualifications Experience in program coordination, community engagement, social work, psychology, counseling support, peer support, nonprofit work, and/or related fields Strong understanding of mental health support systems and trauma-informed communication Ability to navigate sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism Excellent organizational and communication skills Experience working with young people and/or health communities preferred Knowledge of HD or neurodegenerative diseases is a plus, but not required Ability to work independently in a remote, international environment Preferred Skills Crisis response or mental health support training Experience coordinating virtual programs Familiarity with safeguarding and referral processes Cross-cultural communication experience Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is: Compassionate and person-centered Calm and thoughtful in sensitive situations Organized, self-motivated, and proactive Passionate about supporting young people and families Committed to equity, inclusion, and community care About HDYO Huntington’s Disease Youth Organization (HDYO) supports young people impacted by Huntington’s Disease around the world through education, community, advocacy, and support services.
