The Compliance Specialist is a key member of the Lever1 team, working closely with internal departments and clients to ensure Lever1 maintains compliance across all states of operation. This role supports federal and state regulatory requirements through day‑to‑day compliance administration, insurance coordination, contract management, report generation, and quality control processes that protect the performance and integrity of Lever1’s PEO operations.Essential Job FunctionsManage and assist in maintaining Lever1’s compliance with applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirementsOversee and support the full workers’ compensation process, including rate verification, invoice payments, and accurate client billingAssist with contract administration, including preparation, tracking, updates, and renewals of client and vendor agreementsManage electronic document workflows using DocuSign, ensuring contracts and compliance documents are properly executed, stored, and retrievableDevelop, maintain, and distribute compliance and operational reports for internal teams, leadership, and external agenciesIdentify, investigate, document, and escalate compliance issues, irregularities, and potential risksMaintain accurate and well‑organized records of compliance activities, contracts, filings, and reportsGenerate routine and ad‑hoc reports to support audits, regulatory requests, and business decision‑makingManage and assist with the unemployment claims processCoordinate with the tax team to ensure client tax filings are accurate and submitted on timePrepare, review, and submit required state reports, filings, and registrationsRequired & Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in business, finance, human resources, or a related fieldPreferred 2 years of experience in a compliance, operations, HR, payroll, or similar roleExperience supporting contracts, compliance documentation, or electronic signature platforms (e.g., DocuSign) preferredGeneral understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance processes (formal legal background not required)Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliationStrong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skillsHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately
