A note from our founderI founded electronRx because I believed that the technology to transform how weunderstand the human body already existed in our pockets. Seven years later, that beliefhas become validated science, authorised medical technology, and active clinicalprogrammes running across multiple countries. We are now at the point where the scalebegins. What drives this company is not a product roadmap or a market thesis. It is a genuineconviction that people living with cardiorespiratory disease deserve better tools, moreinsight, and more control over their own health. Every line of code, every dataset, everyclinical investigation we run is in service of that. When you work here, you feel it.I am looking for people who want to build something that matters. Not just technicallycapable graduates, but individuals who care about the purpose behind the work and whowant to grow in an environment where their contribution is real and visible from day one. Ifthat is you, I would love to hear from you.Dr Bipin Patel, CEO and Founder, electronRxThe opportunityCardiorespiratory disease is the leading cause of death globally, and for the vast majority ofthose affected, the current tools for monitoring their condition are inaccessible, infrequent, and hospital-bound. electronRx has developed a platform that changes that. Using only asmartphone - no hardware, no attachments, no specialist environment - our technologycaptures physiological signals that were previously invisible outside a clinical setting. We are not at the beginning of that story. The technology works, the validation data ispublished, and we hold Class IIa authorisation from the MHRA as a Software as a MedicalDevice. What we are building now is the infrastructure to take it to hundreds of thousands ofpeople across multiple countries and clinical programmes. The graduate who joins at this point will not be maintaining legacy systems or running testscripts in the background. They will be building the technology that underpins active clinicalinvestigations, contributing to global deployments, and working alongside data scientists, engineers, and clinicians on problems that genuinely matter. The roleWe are looking for a technically capable graduate or placement student who is comfortableworking across data science and web development - someone who enjoys the full picture, from the pipeline that processes raw physiological signals to the interface through whichclinicians and patients interact with the results. This is a generalist role by design. You will move between real-world datasets, clinical dataworkflows, internal tooling, and patient-facing or investigator-facing web applications. Thework shifts depending on where the team needs momentum, and that is a feature, not alimitation. If you thrive when the problem keeps changing, you will do well here. What you will work on• Preparing, exploring, and analysing physiological and clinical datasets from liveinvestigations• Supporting and improving the systems through which patient data is captured, processed, and stored• Contributing to internal tools, dashboards, and web applications used by cliniciansand the commercial team• Building rapid prototypes across software and data workflows to test ideas quickly• Supporting the development of statistical, signal processing, and machine learningmethods for healthcare applications• Collaborating directly with data scientists, engineers, and clinicians to solve practicalproblems• Communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences• Working across multiple concurrent projects with varying requirements andtimescalesWhat we are looking forYou will be studying towards a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics,Engineering, or a similarly analytical discipline. Strong Python is the baseline. Beyond that,we are more interested in depth in two or three areas than in someone who has skimmedthe surface of everything on the list. If you are genuinely strong in the foundations andmotivated to go further, we will back you to develop the rest.Core:• Strong programming ability in Python• Experience with JavaScript and modern web development, including React• Analytical and problem-solving skills applied to real data• Experience working with databases and data-driven applications• The ability to communicate your thinking clearly to people outside your disciplineValued:• Signal processing or time-series analysis• Cloud platforms - GCP, AWS, or Firebase• SQL and/or NoSQL databases• Experience with machine learning model development or evaluation• Node.js or C++ familiarity• Any prior exposure to healthcare, medical technology, or regulated softwareenvironmentsWhat matters as much as any of the above: intellectual curiosity, genuine care about theapplication, and the kind of initiative that does not wait to be told what to do next. What we offerA 12-month placement or internship at electronRx is substantive work. You will be givenownership of real deliverables, not peripheral tasks designed to occupy a placement student. You will sit in on clinical and commercial conversations that most people at this stage of theircareer never get close to. You will leave understanding what it takes to build regulatedmedical technology from first principles.• Placement stipend of £25,000 per annum• A personal training budget for skills that benefit you and the work• Direct mentorship from engineers, data scientists, and clinicians working at thefrontier of digital health• A central Cambridge office at Barclays Eagle Labs, 28 Chesterton Road, with secureparking and cycle storage• A hybrid work arrangement - in-office and remote, flexed to the needs of yourprojects• The genuine possibility of returning in a full-time role, or carrying the experienceforward wherever you go nextAbout electronRxelectronRx is a deep tech medical technology company based in Cambridge, UK. We holdMHRA Class IIa authorisation as a Software as a Medical Device manufacturer and are ISO13485 certified. Our technology is in active clinical investigation at Cambridge UniversityHospitals and deployed in Japan. We have been recognised as a Deep Tech Pioneer byHelloTomorrow in both 2023 and 2024, and our science has been presented at theEuropean Respiratory Society and the American Thoracic Society international conferences. We are a small team of scientists, engineers, and clinical professionals. Everyone hereworks on things that matter and understands why they matter. We have been building thisfor seven years and we are still early enough that the people who join now will leave a clearMark.Diversity and inclusionWe are building technology for everyone and we believe the team that builds it should reflectthat ambition. We actively welcome applications from all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or national origin. If youare uncertain whether you meet every criterion above, please apply anyway. The candidateswe remember are rarely the ones who ticked every box.How to applySend your CV and a short covering note - no more than a page - tocareers@electronrx.com.
