Congestion Trading Lead - SPP

A Boston-based power trading firm is looking to hire a Head of SPP Trading to build and own its presence in the Southwest Power Pool. The firm has already built desks in other ISOs from a single seat, and SPP is next. It is a founder-run business, and this role reports straight to the head.What you’ll do:Build the firm’s SPP book from one seat, trading TCRs, virtuals or both.Own the market end to end: strategy, risk and the fundamental view behind every position.Run a fundamentals-led approach to congestion, grounded in power flow, transmission constraints and market structure.Report directly to the founder, with no committee between your PnL and your payout.Shape how the SPP desk grows as it proves out.Your profile:5+ years’ trading experience in US power congestion markets, with at least 2-3 of those years in SPP.A fundamentals-led approach to TCRs, virtuals or both.A PnL track record you can evidence.The appetite to build a desk from a single seat.MISO experience alongside SPP is a strong plus, as is a history of hiring or managing traders.Why this role:Most moves offer a seat on someone else’s desk. This one offers SPP itself, at a firm that has built desks in other ISOs the same way. Pay is a base plus a straight split of your PnL, and sign-on and deferral buyouts are open to discussion.
