The BreastCheck Western Unit forms part of Ireland’s National Breast Screening Programme, supporting a screening population of over 160,000 women across Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim and Clare.This role offers the opportunity to work within a well-established, MDT-led breast service with strong clinical governance, quality assurance, teaching, research and academic links.Consultant Breast Radiologist Job in Galway – Key BenefitsThis Consultant Breast Radiology role in Ireland offers:Salary: €238,221 – €286,151On-call allowance: €11,250Learning and development support: Up to €20,000 annuallyWorking week: 37 hoursAnnual leave: 30 working days plus 10 public holidaysTechnology: Tomosynthesis, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy systemsSetting: National Breast Screening Programme with strong QA and governance frameworksThe RoleAs a Consultant Breast Radiologist in Galway, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality breast screening, assessment and diagnostic breast imaging services.The role includes:Diagnostic breast imagingInterventional breast proceduresScreening and assessment clinicsBreast MDT participationImage-guided biopsy, including stereotactic biopsy where appropriateAudit, quality improvement and clinical governanceTeaching, training and academic collaboration with the University of GalwayYou will work closely with breast surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiographers, clinical nurse specialists and wider MDT colleagues.Consultant Breast Radiologist RequirementsWe are interested in speaking with doctors who have:Specialist training or fellowship experience in Breast RadiologyA minimum of 12 months’ dedicated breast imaging training or equivalent experienceExperience in diagnostic and interventional breast imagingExperience in high-volume screening and assessment clinicsCompetence in biopsy and stereotactic proceduresAn interest in audit, quality improvement, teaching or researchThis opportunity may suit Consultant Breast Radiologists currently working in the UK, Ireland, EU, US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand who are considering consultant jobs in Ireland.Why Galway?Galway is one of Ireland’s most desirable locations for internationally relocating consultants.
