BMC operates under MOH license number R4P68Y2N-181125.Role Description The Consultant Family Medicine – Obesity & Weight Management role at BMC is a full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi. The consultant will provide comprehensive primary care services with a specialized focus on weight management, obesity prevention, and related metabolic health conditions.The role includes assessing and managing patients with overweight and obesity, metabolic syndrome, and associated comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. Responsibilities involve conducting detailed clinical evaluations, performing risk stratification, ordering and interpreting relevant diagnostic investigations, and developing individualized, evidence-based weight management plans.The consultant will deliver structured lifestyle modification programs, including nutrition counseling, physical activity guidance, behavioral therapy support, and pharmacological management where appropriate. Coordination with dietitians, endocrinologists, bariatric specialists, and other multidisciplinary team members will be a key aspect of care delivery.Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate medical records, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and regulatory standards, and actively participating in quality improvement initiatives. The role also involves contributing to multidisciplinary obesity case discussions and supporting community-based health promotion and wellness programs focused on obesity prevention.QualificationsStrong clinical background in Family Medicine with a special focus on Obesity and Weight Management, including prevention and management of overweight, obesity, and related metabolic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.Proven expertise in lifestyle medicine and chronic disease management, with the ability to design and implement individualized weight management plans including nutrition, physical activity, behavioral modification, and pharmacotherapy where appropriate.Experience in multidisciplinary care coordination, working closely with dietitians, endocrinologists, bariatric surgeons, psychologists, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive obesity care.Strong understanding of behavioral health and psychological principles related to obesity, including patient motivation, counseling, adherence strategies, and long-term lifestyle change support.Demonstrated ability in case management and long-term follow-up, ensuring continuity of care for patients with complex metabolic and lifestyle-related conditions.Experience in community health and preventive medicine initiatives, including obesity prevention programs, public health education, and wellness promotion activities.Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with completion of recognized specialist training in Family Medicine; board certification or equivalent qualification preferred.Valid license or eligibility for licensure as a Consultant Family Medicine with relevant UAE health authorities (DOH/ DHA/ MOH).Strong clinical competence in evidence-based medicine, excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills, particularly in metabolic and lifestyle-related disorders.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and educate patients for sustained behavioral change.Proficiency in Englishand Arabic is must
