The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of ophthalmic conditions, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and high-quality eye care.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive ophthalmic consultations, examinations, diagnosis, and treatmentDiagnose and manage cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, corneal diseases, and other ophthalmic disordersPerform appropriate ophthalmic surgical procedures within the scope of clinical expertise and privilegesConduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity assessment, slit-lamp examination, fundoscopy, and intraocular pressure measurementPerform cataract surgery, including phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation, where appropriately trainedEvaluate and manage patients with retinal, corneal, anterior segment, and optic nerve disordersDiagnose and manage ocular infections, inflammatory eye conditions, and ophthalmic emergenciesInterpret diagnostic investigations, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), visual field testing, fundus photography, corneal topography, and ocular ultrasoundPerform appropriate laser treatments and minor ophthalmic procedures within the authorized scope of practiceProvide comprehensive pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, informed consent, and post-operative follow-upMonitor patients with chronic ophthalmic conditions and develop individualized long-term treatment plansCollaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, neurologists, endocrinologists, and other multidisciplinary specialistsProvide patient education regarding eye health, treatment options, surgical risks, recovery, and preventive careSupervise and mentor junior physicians and ophthalmic healthcare professionalsMaintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with clinical governance, infection control, and patient-safety standardsParticipate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, research, and CME activitiesRequirementsQualificationsMBBS/MD or equivalent medical degreeRecognized postgraduate qualification in OphthalmologyBoard certification or equivalent recognized consultant qualificationFellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Ophthalmology is highly desirableMinimum 5-10 years of post-specialization experience in OphthalmologyStrong clinical and surgical experience in diagnosing and managing complex ophthalmic conditionsDemonstrated competence in ophthalmic diagnostic procedures and relevant surgical interventionsExperience in cataract surgery, glaucoma management, retinal disorders, or corneal diseases is highly desirableEligible for DHA Consultant classification/license in Dubai, subject to applicable qualification and experience requirementsExcellent clinical judgment, surgical skills, communication, leadership, and patient-management abilitiesBenefitsCompetitive salary and attractive benefits packageMedical insuranceAnnual paid leave and other benefits as per UAE Labour Law and facility policyProfessional development and CME opportunitiesModern, well-equipped ophthalmology facilities with advanced diagnostic and surgical technologiesCollaborative multidisciplinary healthcare environmentLicensing assistance available for eligible candidates
