Job SummaryThe Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients with mental health disorders. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, ensuring patient safety, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the continuous improvement of mental health services within the organization.ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and establish accurate diagnoses.Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychiatric medications as appropriate.Provide psychotherapy, counseling, and crisis intervention when required.Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans accordingly.Provide psychiatric consultations for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency cases.Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide timely interventions.Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential medical records.Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and other clinical staff when applicable.Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing medical education activities.Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, patient safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.QualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MBBS/MD) or equivalent.Saudi Board, Arab Board, or an equivalent Board Certification in Psychiatry.Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) registration and classification as a Consultant Psychiatrist.Minimum of five (5) years of post-board experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist.Strong clinical expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment.Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
