Remuneration is subject to assessment of qualifications, clinical skills and years of practice. This recruitment pool will be used to fill current and future permanent, fixed-term, full-time, part-time, and sessional opportunities that may arise during the life of the pool.About the Role As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a key role in the continued development of mental health services across the Midwest, providing expert clinical care, leadership, mentorship and strategic input into service delivery. This role will suit a senior Consultant Psychiatrist who is development-focused, and who is motivated by the opportunity to lead change, solve complex challenges, develop innovative approaches and create new opportunities for consumers, staff and future mental health professionals. This is more than a clinical role. It is an opportunity to influence service development, drive innovation and help shape the future of mental health care for diverse rural and regional communities while working alongside a highly supportive multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities: Contribute to the establishment and ongoing development of a contemporary Mental Health Inpatient Unit. Influence mental health care across inpatient and community settings. Lead quality improvement, clinical governance and service innovation initiatives. Supervise and mentor Registrars, Resident Medical Officers and multidisciplinary team members. Participate in research, service evaluation and workforce development initiatives. Eligibility RequirementsTo apply applicants must hold: Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Psychiatry.Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or approved equivalent.Experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in general mental health. Clinical experience across community and/or inpatient mental health services. Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and mentoring capabilities. A demonstrated commitment to service improvement, education, research and innovation. Mental Health Inpatient Unit – A major transformation is underway at the Health Campus. Supported by a $190.3 million redevelopment, the campus is evolving into a centre of excellence for regional healthcare, with a new Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department and purpose-built Mental Health Inpatient Unit expanding specialist services across the Midwest. The new Mental Health Inpatient Unit will comprise 15 beds, including 4 Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) beds, co-located with the Community Mental Health Clinic to support integrated and patient-centred care.
