Contract C++ Engineer – Low Latency / Trading InfrastructureInitial 12-month contract | Fully Remote – USA | Competitive Daily RateOcho is partnering with a specialist capital markets technology company based in Chicago to hire an experienced Contract C++ Engineer to work on high-performance trading infrastructure used by major financial institutions.This is a fully remote US opportunity working on the technology that sits behind modern electronic trading — including market data, order entry, exchange connectivity and real-time trading systems.The RoleYou'll join a highly technical engineering environment building and optimizing performance-critical C++ systems.The work sits close to the core trading infrastructure, so we're particularly interested in engineers who understand how software behaves under demanding real-time workloads and can get underneath performance, concurrency and networking issues.You'll be responsible for:Designing, developing and optimizing high-performance C++ applicationsBuilding components supporting real-time market data and order flowWorking on trading and exchange connectivity infrastructureDeveloping efficient, scalable and reliable systems in Linux environmentsIdentifying performance bottlenecks and reducing latencyWorking extensively with multithreading, concurrency and networkingContributing to technical design and architectureTroubleshooting complex production and performance issuesMaintaining high standards around testing, reliability and code qualityWhat We're Looking ForYou'll need strong commercial experience developing performance-sensitive software in modern C++.Ideally, you'll bring:Strong modern C++ development experienceExcellent Linux knowledgeMultithreading and concurrency expertiseExperience building low-latency or high-throughput systemsStrong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP and network programmingExperience with profiling and performance optimizationStrong systems-level engineering fundamentalsAbility to work independently in a remote, delivery-focused environmentExperience within capital markets, electronic trading, FIX, market data or exchange connectivity would be highly advantageous.We're equally interested in exceptional C++ engineers from other performance-critical environments such as telecommunications, embedded/real-time systems, gaming, aerospace, defense or other high-throughput distributed systems.Why This Role?This isn't a conventional enterprise C++ position.You'll be working on technology sitting directly within the trading ecosystem, where performance, reliability and efficient engineering genuinely matter.It's an opportunity to work alongside experienced capital markets engineers while contributing to systems used in demanding, real-time production environments.Contract Details12-month contractFully remote within the USACompetitive contract rateHigh-impact trading technology environmentApply here or reach out to Aaron Somers at Ocho via LinkedIn for more information.
