Currently running on QuickBooks, this is a true standalone role: you'll be the first real accounting hire, reporting directly to the CEO/founder, with total ownership of the function and full visibilityHYBRID SETUP WITH OFFICES IN HOBOKEN / JERSEY CITY What You'll OwnThe close: monthly and quarterly, from GL and accruals through GAAP financials, built and run your wayExecutive reporting: P&L by department and client segment, margin analysis, and the KPIs that actually drive decisionsBanking and key relationships: you become the face of finance to the bank, pension advisor/TPA, PEO, tax preparer, auditors, and insurance brokerCash and the credit facility: forecasting, covenants, draws, and repaymentsRevenue cycle: AR and collections across the client base, plus AP and vendor paymentsPeople finance: payroll and benefits through the PEO, plus the company pension plan alongside the TPA (contributions, testing, filings)Budgeting and forecasting: annual budget and rolling forecasts with legal, sales, and tech leadsSystems and controls: upgrade from QuickBooks, choose the tools, and build internal controls designed for a firm handling confidential client financial and contract dataRisk and vendors: insurance renewals (E&O, cyber, GL) and the company's own vendor contractsWhat You'll Bring8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 2-3+ years as a Controller or senior accounting managerCPA strongly preferred; Bachelor's in Accounting or FinanceStrong GAAP command, including revenue recognition for services and subscription modelsProfessional services, financial services, or data/analytics background preferredFamiliarity with PEO and co-employment payroll structures and multi-state complianceERP fluency and comfort connecting billing, CRM, and time-tracking systemsRock-solid discretion with sensitive client and company data
