Controller

A growing organization in Fort Lauderdale is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and month-end close process. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that will partner closely with executive management while leading the day-to-day accounting function.The ideal candidate is a strong technical accountant who can improve processes, develop a high-performing team, and provide accurate financial information to support business decisions.Responsibilities:• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting• Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and management reporting• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets• Develop and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and variance analysis• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, banking relationships, and regulatory reporting requirements• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, automate reporting, and strengthen financial controls• Provide financial analysis and strategic insights to executive leadership• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team• Support system implementations, acquisitions, integrations, and other special projects as neededQualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager capacity• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls• Previous experience managing and developing accounting professionals• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing environment• CPA or master’s degree is strongly preferredThis is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys remaining hands-on while helping an organization improve its financial operations and prepare for continued growth.Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply or contact me directly for additional information.
