Position: Controller - “French Speaking”Location: Remote (100%), No travelReports to: CEOBase salary: $110k - $195k plus equityAbout: The company provides a consumer services “Super App” serving French speaking North Africa. It acts as an all-in-one platform for daily digital services: Ride-Hailing, Food / Grocery delivery as well as Financial services providing the option for users to pay for rides and deliveries digitally. The Corporate office is located in the San Francisco Bay Area with most operations in North Africa. The company is backed by leading VCs and has raised Series C.Role:Direct and coordinate global accounting, regulatory compliance and systemsManage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business resultsCoordinate accounting and financial reporting across regional finance teams, ensuring consistent policies, processes and reportingLead the monthly, quarterly and annual close and consolidation processAssess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processesProvide management with information vital to the decision-making processEvaluate accounting and internal controlsCoordinate and prepare internal and external financial statementsCoordinate activities of external auditorsEvaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databaseOversee regulatory reporting, including tax compliance in coordination with regional teams and external advisorsHire, train and retain skilled accounting staffWork closely with the CEO and management team on reports and presentation to the Board and Audit Committees.Work cross-functionally to develop operating policies, procedures, and improvement programsServe as the primary accounting partner to regional finance teams, helping resolve accounting, reporting, controls and compliance mattersProfessional Qualifications French speaker a MUST and Arabic speaker a plus10+ years of “hands on” accounting experienceCPA license or MBA preferredBig 4 or similar public accounting experience preferredExperience working for a consumer services App a plusHave worked for a global company in a multi-cultural environment (multiple offices worldwide)Experience managing or coordinating accounting across multiple countries/entitiesExcellent judgement and well-honed prioritization skills, including the ability to think creatively about solutionsStrong business partner to the Finance team and those outside of Finance.Experience with transfer pricingClear communication and strong interpersonal skillsAbility to operate effectively across regions, cultures and levels of the organizationProven ability to look around corners, identify opportunities and manage risks
