Controller

A Financial Services Firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join your team as a Controller.

Responsibilities

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close.Oversee general ledger activity, accruals, intercompany transactions, leases, fixed assets, payroll, and compensation-related accounting.Review journal entries, reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedules.Prepare and review internal and external financial statements.Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external service providers.Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.Research and resolve technical accounting matters.Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies, procedures, and documentation.Partner with finance, tax, legal, technology, and other internal teams on company-wide initiatives.Improve accounting processes through standardization, automation, and technology.Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.Serve as a trusted accounting resource to senior management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.Active CPA license required.15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership and people-management responsibilities.Experience within a complex, multi-entity organization.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, technical accounting, and internal controls.Proven experience managing financial statement audits.Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.Ability to remain hands-on while overseeing broader accounting operations.
