HireLoft Recruitment is retained by a privately held, profitable B2B services business in downtown Toronto to hire a Financial Controller.Our client has scaled quickly across the Canadian market and the finance function is being built out to match. The role reports to the VP Finance and owns the close, the statements, the reconciliations, internal controls, the annual audit and HST filings, plus budgeting, forecasting and the analysis that goes to senior leadership.What you will ownDay-to-day operations of the accounting function, including accuracy and timeliness of reportingMonthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, prepared and reviewedMonth-end and year-end close, start to finishReview of balance sheet reconciliations covering bank, credit card, prepaids and accruals, and resolution of anything that does not tieInternal controls and accounting procedures, maintained and improvedCompliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal policyThe annual audit, working directly with external auditorsMonthly HST filingsBudgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, with recommendations that reach senior leadershipCash management and financial planning supportProcess improvement and system enhancements that make the function fasterCoaching, mentoring and performance management for the accounting teamWhat we need to seeCPA designation7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experienceSolid working knowledge of IFRS and ASPEFull ownership of a close cycle in a prior roleERP experience and advanced ExcelPeople management or mentoring experience, with examplesComfort in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment where you own the detailThe details$120,000 to $130,000 base, plus benefitsFull time, permanentOn-site five days per week in downtown TorontoApply through this posting.
