Controller | VC-Backed Membership Platform | NYCConfidential | New York, NY (On-Site)A rapidly growing, founder-led professional services platform is seeking a Controller to lead and strengthen its accounting function during an exciting period of growth. The company has built a highly recurring revenue business with strong financial fundamentals, a collaborative culture, and an entrepreneurial leadership team. Having experienced consistent expansion over the past several years, the organization is now investing in scalable financial infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and operational excellence to support its next stage of growth.Role Overview & Core ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to executive leadership, the Controller will own the company's day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of the organization's financial reporting. This individual will become the operational backbone of the finance function, partnering closely with leadership to deliver timely financial information and continuously improve accounting processes.Key responsibilities include:Own the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.Prepare monthly management reporting packages, budget versus actual analysis, and schedules supporting executive decision-making.Partner closely with the company's Strategic Finance Advisor on financial reporting, planning initiatives, budgeting, forecasting, and other strategic finance projects.Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash management, bank reconciliations, expense management, and recurring accounting workflows.Administer employee equity records and cap table activity through Carta, ensuring proper documentation and recordkeeping.Manage expense reporting and policy compliance through Ramp, while identifying opportunities to improve financial controls and operational efficiency.Support recurring revenue accounting, billing workflows, and cash application processes.Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers, and other third-party partners to ensure compliance and successful audit execution.Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, strengthen internal controls, and continue building a scalable accounting infrastructure.Utilize QuickBooks and other cloud-based financial systems to improve reporting, visibility, and operational efficiency.Ideal BackgroundBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.CPA strongly preferred.Progressive accounting experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior accounting professional.Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and month-end close.Experience within founder-led, entrepreneurial, or high-growth organizations is highly valued.Experience with QuickBooks required; familiarity with Ramp, Carta, and other modern financial technology platforms is a plus.Comfortable operating in a lean environment where ownership, initiative, and attention to detail are critical to success.Highly organized with a passion for building processes, improving financial operations, and producing reporting leadership can rely on with confidence.Work EnvironmentFive days per week in a collaborative New York City office.Lean, entrepreneurial organization with direct exposure to executive leadership.Opportunity to play a foundational role in building the accounting function while partnering with an experienced Strategic Finance Advisor on broader finance initiatives.CompensationBase salary: $130,000–$160,000 + Performance Bonus and Equity Participation.The above salary range represents Advice's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is not reflective of the total compensation package, which may also include benefits, bonus opportunities, equity, and other non-cash incentives.Please send your resume for immediate consideration to: gparkhurst@adviceny.comIf this particular role isn't the ideal fit, please feel free to forward your resume to the email above to explore other available opportunities.
