Nominal serves leading organizations across aerospace, defense, energy, automotive, robotics, manufacturing, and more.Backed by Sequoia, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed, Nominal is a rapidly growing, Series B startup that is seeking a Corporate Controller to build and lead its accounting function as it grows beyond its current $1B valuation.The OpportunityThis is a hands-on leadership role for an accounting professional who thrives in a high-growth, venture-backed environment and enjoys building rather than inheriting.The Corporate Controller will own the accounting function end-to-end, establish scalable processes and controls, lead technical accounting and audit activities, optimize financial systems, and build the team needed to support continued growth.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn month-end close, financial reporting, AP/AR, and general accounting, providing leadership with actionable data to inform strategic decision-makingServe as a strategic, data-driven, tech-forward partner to senior leadershipEstablish accounting policies, processes, controls, and scalable infrastructureLead technical accounting, including US GAAP and ASC 606Manage the annual audit and external accounting relationshipsImplement and optimize ERP and modern accounting systemsBuild and develop the accounting organizationPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Operations, Engineering, and LegalSupport government and defense contract accounting, including CAS and FAROversee international and multi-entity accounting, including consolidations, tax, and transfer pricingIdeal Background8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or high-growth startup experienceStrong US GAAP, ASC 606, financial reporting, controls, and audit expertiseProven Controller-level ownership of an accounting functionExperience building accounting infrastructure in an early-stage or rapidly scaling companyB2B SaaS or venture-backed technology experience (esp. data platform products)Experience with ERP implementations and modern accounting systemsGovernment contract accounting experience, including CAS/FAR, is a plusInternational or multi-entity accounting experience is a plusCPAHands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with strong motor, judgment, and communication skillsWhy Nominal?Build the accounting function for a rapidly scaling technology companyWork at the intersection of software and hardware for industries shaping our physical worldJoin a well-capitalized company backed by leading venture investorsWork on a team that is fast-paced, mission-oriented, and groundedSE#510812407
