Apply & track with Apply EdgeCorporate Controller | Accounting & Finance LeadershipFort Wayne, IN | $125,000+ | Full-TimeAre you a hands-on Controller or accounting leader who enjoys being close to the numbers, solving problems, and improving the way a finance function operates?We are partnering with an established organization in Fort Wayne, IN to identify a Corporate Controller who will take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting function while partnering closely with senior leadership.This is an opportunity for someone who doesn't just review the numbers — you understand them, know where to dig when something doesn't look right, and are willing to roll up your sleeves to make things better.What You'll DoLead the organization's accounting and financial reporting functionsOwn monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processesPrepare and review accurate financial statements and management reportingOversee general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and account balancesCoordinate external audits and serve as a primary point of contact for auditorsDevelop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and accounting processesPartner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planningAnalyze actual results versus budget and prior periods and identify trends or issuesOversee tax-related processes and coordinate with external tax advisorsResearch and apply relevant accounting standards and ensure compliance with applicable requirementsIdentify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and overall finance operationsLead and develop a small accounting team, currently consisting of two direct reportsServe as a hands-on resource when the team needs additional supportWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for a problem-solver and operational accounting leader — someone who sees an issue and takes ownership of finding a solution.The ideal candidate will bring:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5+ years of progressive accounting, finance, financial reporting, audit, or Controller-level experienceExperience leading or supervising accounting professionalsStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end closeExperience with internal controls, audit coordination, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysisStrong attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger pictureA hands-on, collaborative leadership styleStrong problem-solving skills and a continuous-improvement mindsetAbility to work independently, prioritize deadlines, and move initiatives forwardCPA is preferred, but not required.Experience in banking, financial services, credit unions, insurance, public accounting, or another highly regulated environment is a plus — but we are open to strong corporate accounting and Controller-level professionals with transferable experience.Why This Opportunity?$100,000–$125,000+ base salary, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate401(k) with 3.5% company match after 90 daysEmployee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) eligibility after one yearStable organization with an established finance functionDirect partnership with the CFO and senior leadershipOpportunity to make a tangible impact on accounting processes, controls, and financial operationsLeadership role with a small, experienced teamPrimarily onsite environment with one remote day per weekLocationFort Wayne, IndianaThis position is based in the Fort Wayne office, with flexibility for one remote day per week.
