We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support the financial and operational performance of its manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate product costing, monitoring inventory activity, analyzing manufacturing variances, and supporting the month-end close process. The Cost Accountant will work closely with finance, operations, production, and supply chain teams to ensure the integrity of costing data and provide insights that support sound business decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.Analyze manufacturing variances, including material, labor, scrap, purchase price, and overhead variances.Review bills of materials, routings, and work orders to ensure accurate product costing.Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory subledger activity to the general ledger.Investigate inventory discrepancies and partner with operations to resolve variances.Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities related to inventory and cost of goods sold.Support cycle counts and physical inventory processes, including analysis and reconciliation of count results.Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports related to inventory, production costs, and operational performance.Partner cross-functionally with purchasing, production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve cost accuracy and strengthen internal controls.Identify opportunities for process improvement within cost accounting, inventory management, and reporting procedures.Provide audit support, including reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and variance analysis.Experience with ERP systems, preferably Made2Manage.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall systems proficiency.Solid understanding of month-end close, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across departments.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting cost accounting functions in a discrete manufacturing environment.Familiarity with bills of materials, routings, labor tracking, and shop floor reporting.Key CompetenciesAttention to detailAnalytical thinkingProcess improvementCross-functional collaborationAccountabilityTime managementWork EnvironmentThis position operates in both office and manufacturing plant settings and may require regular interaction with production teams and periodic presence on the shop floor to support inventory validation and costing accuracy.
