This role will develop and maintain detailed should-cost models and cost sheets, as well as prepare budgetary cost estimates for new products, projects, and RFQs. The role will ensure cost transparency, identify cost optimization opportunities, and provide fact-based cost input to support commercial and engineering decisions. The incumbent will work closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and commercial teams globally to validate cost assumptions, understand manufacturing processes, and drive cost competitiveness.Main Responsibilities Prepare budgetary, non-binding cost estimates and should-cost sheets for Bus Bar and Power Connector products based on customer requirements, drawings, and technical inputs.Work closely with the Power War Room to provide fast cost estimates and cost input during RFQs, concept development, and product development activities.Develop and maintain cost models and cost breakdowns for Power products, including material, manufacturing processes, tooling, labor, and other relevant cost elements.Analyze customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements to assess material usage, manufacturing processes, cycle times, tooling requirements, and cost impact.Evaluate technical and design changes during the development phase and identify cost optimization and cost-reduction opportunities.Challenge technical proposals, product designs, and manufacturing concepts to identify more cost-effective and manufacturable solutions.Support the War Room in comparing different design, material, process, and manufacturing options and assessing their cost impact.Establish cost transparency by identifying key cost drivers, assumptions, and major cost contributors within the product and manufacturing process.Apply Zero-Based Costing (ZBC) methodologies and prepare detailed cost breakdowns using customer-specific templates and requirements.Present cost estimates, cost drivers, and optimization opportunities during cost and technical review meetings and support decision-making with clear cost-based recommendations.Collaborate globally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Commercial, and the Power War Room to validate technical assumptions and drive cost competitiveness.QualificationsStrong technical knowledge of Bus Bar, Power Connector, and related power interconnect products.Experience in cost estimation, should-cost analysis, cost modeling, or product costing.Ability to quickly develop accurate budgetary estimates from technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, and limited technical information.Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the relationship between product design, manufacturing processes, and cost.Good knowledge of stamping, molding, machining, assembly, plating, tooling, and other manufacturing processes relevant to Bus Bars and Power Connectors.Ability to challenge technical solutions and identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising product requirements or manufacturability.Hands-on experience with cost breakdowns, Zero-Based Costing, and cost engineering methodologies.Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to explain cost assumptions and recommendations to technical and commercial stakeholders.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, global, cross-functional environment and support multiple RFQs and development projects.Background in cost engineering, product costing, pricing analysis, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field, preferably within automotive and/or industrial manufacturing.Good command of English, both written and spoken.
