Apply & track with Apply EdgeCountry Manager – Shipping – IndiaWe are looking for an experienced Country Manager to lead and grow our shipping business in India. This role combines commercial development, operational oversight and financial responsibility, with a focus on building strong customer relationships and a successful local team.Your RoleYou will take responsibility for the performance of the Indian business, defining its strategy and overseeing day-to-day activities. Working closely with regional and international teams, you will drive sustainable growth, maintain service standards and strengthen the company’s position in the market.Your ResponsibilitiesDefine and execute the country strategy, identifying opportunities for business development and expansion.Take ownership of the country P&L, budgets, forecasts and financial performance.Develop relationships with customers, shipping partners, port authorities and other key stakeholders.Lead commercial negotiations and oversee pricing, contracts and tenders.Oversee shipping operations, ensuring reliable service and effective coordination with the international network.Monitor market developments, competitor activity and customer needs.Manage costs, protect margins and oversee credit exposure and collections.Ensure compliance with applicable local regulations and company policies.Recruit, manage and develop the local team, setting clear objectives and accountability.Report on business performance, opportunities and risks to senior management.What You BringSignificant experience in shipping, with a strong understanding of the Indian market.A successful track record in commercial development and business leadership.Experience managing a P&L, budgets and operational performance.An established network of relevant industry contacts.Strong negotiation skills and sound commercial judgement.Experience leading teams and working across international organisations.Fluent English; relevant Indian languages are an advantage.A practical, entrepreneurial approach and the ability to balance growth with operational discipline.The OpportunityThis is an opportunity to shape the development of a shipping business in India, with responsibility for its commercial direction, team and financial results.
