Creative Director - Live Visuals & Experiential Content

Location: Central London, studio based, 4-5 days/weekSalary: £75,000–£85,000 DOEType: Permanent, Full-TimeAn early call for interest...We're beginning a pre-emptive search for a Creative Director ahead of a role that is expected to formally launch shortly with one of London’s most prestigious creative design studios working across live music, entertainment and large-scale visual experiences. This isn't a live vacancy quite yet, but I’m keen to start conversations with exceptional creative talent in this space. The studio creates ambitious visual work for some of the world's biggest artists, entertainment brands and live events, designing content for arena and stadium tours, huge-format LED environments, immersive installations and unconventional digital canvases. We're looking for a Creative Director with exceptional visual taste, a strong conceptual brain and, crucially, significant experience creating content for large-scale live environments. The RoleYou'll lead the creative development of major live visual projects from the earliest idea through to final delivery.Working across several high-profile projects simultaneously, you'll set the creative vision, develop concepts and visual worlds, lead teams of designers and animators, present ideas confidently and ensure the quality of the work remains exceptional as projects move through production. You'll need to be equally comfortable coming up with the big idea and getting into the detail of how that idea translates onto a 30-metre screen, an arena stage or a completely unconventional canvas. This is a fast-moving studio environment, so we're looking for someone who can maintain creative ambition while keeping multiple projects, teams and deadlines moving. What We're Looking ForWe're particularly interested in people with a background in 3D animation, motion design or visual content, although we're very open to Creative Directors from other disciplines who can demonstrate outstanding conceptual thinking and the right body of live work. You should bring:Significant Creative Director / Design Director / senior creative experienceExtensive experience creating visuals for major live events – arena or stadium tours, global music acts, large-scale entertainment, immersive installations or similarly ambitious productionsExceptional visual taste and a genuinely strong portfolio of creative workThe ability to develop a creative concept and turn it into a coherent visual language across an entire show or experienceStrong understanding of 3D, motion design and animation pipelinesExperience directing multidisciplinary teams of designers, animators, motion artists and technical creativesConfidence presenting creative ideas to senior clients, artists and collaboratorsThe ability to give clear, constructive creative direction and raise the standard of work around youAn understanding of designing for scale, unusual aspect ratios and non-traditional screen formatsThe ability to work quickly, make good creative decisions under pressure and keep several major projects moving simultaneouslyStrong communication, leadership and collaborative skillsTechnically FluentYou don't necessarily need to be the person operating the software day-to-day, but you should understand the creative possibilities, workflows and limitations of contemporary content-production pipelines.Knowledge of tools and workflows involving Cinema 4D, After Effects, Redshift, Notch, Disguise, Unreal Engine and related real-time / 3D technologies would be highly advantageous. We're particularly interested in creatives who understand how content moves from concept and previs through design, animation, rendering, real-time content and ultimately playback in a live environment. The PersonSomeone who can inspire a room, articulate why an idea works, challenge a creative team to make something better and still make a decision quickly when a deadline is approaching. You'll be comfortable switching between projects and scales - developing an overarching visual concept on one project, reviewing animation on another, presenting to a major client and then helping solve a creative problem with the team. Most importantly, you'll understand that designing for live audiences is different, and working in large spaces requires nuanced pacing and storytelling.Interested? This search is currently exploratory and ahead of the formal role going live, so there's no expectation that candidates need to be actively job hunting.I'd particularly like to hear from established Creative Directors, Design Directors and senior motion/3D creatives who feel ready to step into broader creative leadership. We're keen to hear from people with different creative backgrounds and routes into the industry.

If your experience doesn't follow a conventional path but your portfolio demonstrates exceptional visual thinking and genuine large-scale live experience, I'd still really like to see it.£75,000–£85,000 DOE | Permanent | Central London | Studio-based 4-5 days per weekIf this sounds like you – or someone you think I should know – please get in touch for an initial confidential conversation.
