What You'll Be DoingBuild, document and take full ownership of the collections process from the ground up.Set the cadence and approach for chasing overdue and failed payments — how often customers are contacted and at what point cases get escalated.Develop and refine the wording used with customers, from reminder emails to call scripts, improving them over time.Take hands-on responsibility for chasing a large portfolio of customer accounts directly, by phone and email.Spot genuine billing or service problems and loop in Onboarding, Customer Service and Finance to get them resolved quickly.Define when an unpaid account needs to move further up the chain and build clear escalation steps for those cases.Keep accurate records and give leadership visibility on arrears, recovery rates, failed payments and the reasons behind them.Look for ways to recover more through smarter messaging, tighter processes, and automated payment retries. What We're Looking ForSolid, practical experience in credit control, collections or chasing recurring payments - ideally gained in a subscription business or another high-volume customer setting.A track record of building or overhauling a collections process, rather than just running an existing one.Self-directed, happy to own both the bigger-picture approach and the daily chasing ofpayments.Comfortable picking up the phone and holding your ground through objections, complaints and awkward payment conversations.Strong written communication - able to put together customer-facing messages that are clear, professional and get results.Persistent and commercially sharp, without losing a professional tone with customers.Well organised, able to juggle a large caseload of accounts, follow-ups and escalations without things slipping. At ease with finance, CRM or payment platforms, plus Excel or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.A CICM qualification, or progress towards one, would be a plus but isn't required. What's On OfferSalary in the £48,000 - £50,000 rangeA well-rounded benefits packageHybrid working from a City of London officeGenuine autonomy, with the chance to build and lead a brand-new collections function from scratchAvailable to start straight awayHow to ApplyThis search is being run on an exclusive and confidential basis.Get in touch to find out more or to apply — full details of the business will be provided to candidates who progress.
