Credit Controller

Job description:Join the finance team at Dunsters Farm, a family-owned, fast-growing foodservice business supplying schools, hospitals, cafés and restaurants across the North of England as a Credit Controller based at our Head Office in Bury.Purpose of the RoleTo manage the collection of overdue customer balances in line with agreed credit terms, maintaining strong customer relationships while protecting the company's cash flow and reducing the risk of bad debts. The role also provides regular support to the Sales Ledger function, reflecting the close working relationship between credit control and sales ledger activity.Key Responsibilities:Ensuring customer accounts are kept up to date and in line with agreed credit termsIdentifying accounts that are overdue or above credit limit, and contacting customers to request paymentFollowing up on previously chased accounts and escalating appropriately where payment is not receivedInvestigating and resolving queries or disputes that may be delaying payment, liaising with other teams as neededPlacing accounts on stop where overdue balances remain unsettled following notice, and releasing accounts once resolvedMaintaining accurate notes and records of collection activity for each accountProducing and circulating weekly reports on flagged/overdue accountsRaising severely overdue accounts with the Management Accountant once internal escalation procedures have been exhausted, to agree next steps including external debt recovery or legal action where appropriateAssisting the Sales Ledger Clerk & Systems Trainer with capturing bank statements and payment allocationsAssisting the Sales Ledger Clerk & Systems Trainer with managing the Finance mailbox, responding to emails and resolving customer queries promptlyProviding cover for Sales Ledger tasks during periods of absence or high workloadWhat we're looking forGood communicator with good phone etiquetteProficient in Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functionsHigh level of attention to detail and accuracyAbility to maintain strong customer relationships while remaining firm and professionalWhat you'll get£28,500 salaryHealth cash plan (physio, dental, opticians)Enhanced sick pay, rising with length of serviceLife insurance (3x salary)Free on-site parkingStaff discount on our product rangeCycle to Work scheme£500 bonus for referring a friendWellbeing days, team socials, and mental health supportAbout DunstersEstablished in 1963, Dunsters farm are a family run foodservice delivering chilled, ambient and non-food products to catering customers with depots in Bury, Preston and Oswestry.
