Basic Information Job Role Central Credit Manager Department Credit Location Head Office, BangaloreMandatory Languages - English and Tamil or Telegu or Kannada (please do not apply if you are not fluent in any of these 3 south Indian languages)This role required a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Indian NBFC dealing in Loan Against property (LAP) or Business Loans (MSME). Non relevant experience will not be considered.Job Purpose To lead credit underwriting and credit risk management for Vistaar’s Affordable Housing and Business Loan portfolios, ensuring robust assessment of borrower creditworthiness, effective underwriting governance, portfolio quality, policy compliance, and timely credit decisions aligned with the organisation’s risk appetite and business objectives. Key Responsibilities Credit Policy Formulation & Surveillance Assist in designing, implementing, and periodically reviewing credit assessment frameworks and underwriting policies for Home Loan and Affordable Housing products. Develop and refine income surrogate methodologies and policy matrices for self-employed and informal income customer segments. Establish localized underwriting guidelines based on regional customer profiles, property markets, and business characteristics. Monitor portfolio performance indicators and recommend policy interventions to improve portfolio quality. Analyze portfolio trends, delinquency patterns, and risk concentrations to support proactive decision-making. Continuously review market practices and regulatory developments to strengthen the credit framework. Underwriting Governance & Deviation Management Evaluate loan proposals and complex credit cases escalated beyond field-level authority limits. Assess policy deviation requests and ensure appropriate risk mitigation measures are incorporated before approval. Define, review, and manage the Credit Authority Matrix and Delegation of Powers framework. Ensure consistent underwriting standards across geographies and business units. Guide field credit teams on policy interpretation and underwriting decisions. Drive First-Time-Right (FTR) underwriting practices to enhance credit quality and processing efficiency. Collateral Risk & Process Management Establish legal and technical evaluation standards for housing and affordable housing collateral. Design risk frameworks for property categories including Gram Panchayat properties, patta lands, self-construction cases, and semi-urban/rural housing assets. Standardize construction-stage disbursement processes and end-use verification controls. Review valuation practices and collateral risk indicators to ensure prudent lending decisions. Manage and monitor the performance of empaneled legal, technical, and valuation partners. Conduct periodic audits and quality reviews to maintain collateral assessment of integrity. Job Requirements Qualifications MBA (Finance), CA, CFA, FRM, or Post Graduate Degree in Finance, Banking, Risk Management, or Business Administration. Additional certifications in Credit Risk, Housing Finance, or Risk Management will be preferred. Experience 4 to 7 years of experience in Retail Credit Risk Management. Minimum 2 to 3 years of direct experience in Affordable Housing Finance or Home Loan underwriting within an NBFC, HFC, or Bank. Experience in centralized credit underwriting, policy formulation, and portfolio monitoring. Exposure to semi-urban and rural lending markets is highly preferred.
