Apply & track with Apply EdgeSummary:The CSSD Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Central Sterile Supply Department, ensuring efficient processing, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies. This role provides leadership, training, and quality oversight while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and supporting optimal patient care through sterile processing excellence.Functional Responsibilities:Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the CARE Hospitals and Clinics.Supervise daily workflow and staffing assignments for decontamination, sterilization, and distribution processesMonitor departmental productivity and turnaround times to meet surgical schedule demandsCoordinate with OR schedulers to anticipate instrument needs and prioritize processingManage emergency and STAT requests ensuring rapid response timesOversee equipment operation and maintenance schedules for sterilizers and washersMonitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing of supplies and materialsManage departmental budget and control operational costsEnsure proper storage and rotation of sterile suppliesCoordinate with biomedical engineering for equipment repairs and maintenanceTrack and analyze departmental metrics and performance indicatorsMaintain accurate sterilization records and quality assurance documentationPrepare reports on departmental performance and quality indicatorsDocument staff training and competency assessmentsEnsure proper incident reporting and corrective action documentationSupport external inspections and accreditation surveysCollaborate with surgical services, nursing units, and other departmentsParticipate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiativesCommunicate effectively with medical staff regarding instrument needsCoordinate with environmental services and infection control teamsServe as departmental liaison for administrative meetingsEnsure compliance with Joint Commission, AAMI, CDC, and other regulatory standardsEnsure compliance with quality assurance standards, hospital infection control and safety protocols to adhere to international standards, such as AAMI, APIC, AORN, OSHA and FDAEnsure the standard precautions related to CSSD are implemented, including wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE), receiving and handling of contaminated instruments, chemical storage and usage.Implement and monitor quality control procedures for all sterilization processesConduct regular audits of instrument processing and documentationInvestigate and resolve quality issues or sterilization failuresMaintain biological and chemical indicator testing programsReview and update departmental policies and proceduresDevelop and deliver comprehensive training programs for CSSD staffEnsure all technicians maintain required certifications and continuing educationConduct competency assessments and skills validationProvide specialized training on new equipment and proceduresCoordinate with infection control and other departments for cross-trainingParticipate in Recruit, interview, and select qualified CSSD technicians processProvide orientation and ongoing training for new and existing staff membersConduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedbackCreate work schedules ensuring adequate coverage for all shiftsAddress staff concerns and resolve workplace conflicts professionallyRecognize and reward outstanding employee performancePerforms other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge. skills and abilities.Minimum Job Qualifications Requirement Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Science field with a recognized CSSD-related certification approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS); ORCompletion of a CSSD Technician Training Program or participation in the Allied Health Saudi Career Development Program.Valid registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as Specialist.Valid BLS, MOH license and BICSLMinimum Work Experience:Minimum 5 years experience in sterile processing operationsMinimum 2-3 years supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare settingDemonstrated knowledge of sterilization principles and infection control practicesExperience with regulatory compliance and quality assurance programsSkills & Competencies:Knowledge of sterilization processes and infection control standardsLeadership and team supervision abilitiesEffective communication with staff and other departmentsStrong time management and workflow coordinationAttention to detail in handling and assembling instrumentsProblem-solving skills to address operational issuesAbility to train and mentor team membersFamiliarity with sterilization equipment and tracking systemsCommitment to regulatory compliance and accurate documentationTeamwork and interdepartmental collaborationAdaptability to changing healthcare needs and technologies
