About ShamsaShamsa is an early-stage DeepTech company developing next-generation Urban Energy Technologies that transform the built environment into a source of clean energy.Our mission is to accelerate the transition toward future cities where buildings, infrastructure, and urban systems actively contribute to energy generation, sustainability, and resilience.We are currently developing advanced solutions in Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), with a focus on creating high-performance solar technologies adapted for the Gulf region and global urban environments.We are looking for a Scientific Co-Founder & CTO who is passionate about taking breakthrough research from concept to commercial impact.The OpportunityThis is not a traditional CTO position.We are seeking a scientist, engineer, and entrepreneur who wants to build a technology company from the ground up.As Scientific Co-Founder & CTO, you will lead the technical vision, research strategy, and technology development roadmap of Shamsa.You will work closely with the founding team to transform scientific innovation into scalable products through research partnerships, industrial collaboration, and commercial deployment.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology LeadershipDefine Shamsa’s technology roadmap and R&D strategy.Lead research and development activities related to BIPV and urban energy technologies.Evaluate emerging materials, photovoltaic technologies, and integration approaches.Translate scientific concepts into commercially viable solutions.Research & InnovationEstablish relationships with universities, research centers, and technology partners.Identify opportunities for patents, publications, and intellectual property development.Guide prototype development and technical validation.Product DevelopmentLead the transition from laboratory concepts to real-world applications.Support prototype design, testing, performance analysis, and certification pathways.Work with external manufacturing and engineering partners.Represent Shamsa within scientific and technology communities.Ideal Candidate ProfileWe are looking for someone who combines scientific excellence with entrepreneurial ambition.Required:PhD or advanced research background in one or more of the following:Materials SciencePhotovoltaics / Solar EnergyRenewable Energy EngineeringElectrical EngineeringNanotechnologyAdvanced MaterialsStrong understanding of photovoltaic technologies and energy systems.Experience with research, experimentation, or technology development.Ability to move beyond academic research toward commercialization.Strong Advantage:Previous startup, commercialization, or technology transfer experience.Experience developing prototypes or bringing research to market.Knowledge of BIPV, solar materials, coatings, or building-integrated technologies.Experience working with industry partners.What We OfferCo-Founder position with meaningful equity ownershipOpportunity to build a DeepTech company from the earliest stage.Ability to shape the future of urban energy solutions.Direct influence over technology strategy and innovation direction.Collaboration with researchers, engineers, and industry partners.Who Should Apply?This opportunity is ideal for:Researchers who want to commercialize their innovationScientists who want to become foundersEngineers who want to build a global technology companyEntrepreneurs passionate about climate impact and future citiesIf you believe the future of energy will be integrated into the places where people live, work, and move we would like to hear from you.
