Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole PurposeThe Curator supports the development, research, interpretation, documentation, and management of the museum's collections and exhibitions. The role provides curatorial, research, and administrative support across collection management, exhibition development, scholarly initiatives, and public engagement activities. Working closely with Senior Curator and cross-functional teams, the role contributes to the delivery of high-quality exhibitions, collection stewardship, and audience engagement programmes.Key ResponsibilitiesCuratorial & Research SupportConduct collection-based research to support exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and curatorial projects. Assist in developing exhibition narratives, interpretive content, object labels, and educational materials. Undertake literature reviews, archival research, and object documentation to support curatorial initiatives. Contribute to scholarly publications, presentations, conferences, and museum research outputs. Collections ManagementSupport the documentation, cataloguing, registration, digitisation, and inventory of museum collections in accordance with museum standards and procedures.Assist with collection audits, object movement tracking, storage projects, and collection rehousing initiatives. Collaborate with collection management and conservation teams to ensure proper care and stewardship of museum objects. Maintain accurate collection records and contribute to database management activities. Exhibition DevelopmentSupport the planning and delivery of permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, and special projects. Coordinate object selection, research materials, image permissions, and exhibition documentation. Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to facilitate exhibition development and installation activities. Assist in developing innovative interpretive approaches and visitor engagement experiences.Public Engagement & LearningSupport lectures, workshops, tours, conferences, and public programmes that promote engagement with the museum's collections and exhibitions. Contribute to educational and outreach initiatives for diverse audiences. Assist in preparing content for digital platforms, publications, presentations, and public communications. Project CoordinationAssist in managing project schedules, timelines, deliverables, and documentation for curatorial projects. Monitor project progress and support reporting requirements for management and stakeholders. Coordinate meetings, workshops, research activities, and cross-functional project requirements. Qualifications & ExperienceMaster's degree or PhD in Archaeology, Museum Studies, Heritage Studies, Ancient History, Anthropology, Art History, or a closely related discipline. Significant experience supporting curatorial, research, collections, or exhibition projects within museums, cultural institutions, universities, or heritage organisations.Demonstrated experience with collections documentation, cataloguing, databases, and archival research. Experience contributing to scholarly publications, exhibitions, conferences, or public engagement programmes. Knowledge, Skills & CompetenciesStrong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including academic and public-facing content development. Experience working with museum collections databases and collections management systems.Strong organisational and project coordination skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, academics, cultural partners, and external institutions. Ideal Candidate ProfilePhD highly desirable or an advanced academic qualification in archaeology, heritage, or a related field. Experience supporting major collections, archives, or museum projects involving large-scale documentation and research activities. Strong record of scholarly publications, conference participation, and international collaboration. Passionate about transforming research and collections into engaging visitor experiences and meaningful public engagement initiatives.
