Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Customs Compliance Manager, Aerospace and Defense Electronics segment is responsible for the management and continuous improvement of customs compliance processes within the assigned region or business units. This role ensures full compliance with applicable customs laws and regulations while partnering with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to enable compliant and efficient global trade activities.The position requires technical expertise in customs classification, valuation, origin, free trade agreements, tariff mitigation, and audit management, as well as the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, business‑aligned solutions.This position may be located in our Torrance, CA, Hawthorne, CA, or Rancho Cordova, CA office.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Compliance Program ExecutionImplement and maintain customs compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in alignment with Teledyne global standardsEnsure transactions reflect reasonable care, including accurate classification, valuation, country of origin, and admissibility determinationsProvide functional leadership for Customs compliance personnel in business unit operationsSupport and execute periodic internal reviews, including annual customs self-assessments and post-entry validationsTrain, develop, and lead Customs compliance personnelTechnical Customs ComplianceReview and assign HS classification, customs valuation, country of origin determinations, and tariff applicability (including Sections 232, 301, 122, and related measures)Manage reconciliation filings and temporary import bondsExperience in working with maquiladora cross border activitiesReview and approve classification determinations, bills of materials, origin analyses, and valuation methodologies for complex or high‑risk productsEnsure accurate and timely customs filings through oversight of brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teamsSupport imports under ITAR licenses or exemptionsAudit, Investigations & Government InteractionDraft responses to CBP, including CF28s, audits, verifications, and post‑entry reviewsCoordinate internal audits, compliance assessments, and corrective action plans; partner with Internal Audit and Legal as neededDevelop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of regulatory or policy concernsOperational Oversight & Broker ManagementOversee import and export processes, working closely with logistics providers, brokers, and internal stakeholdersReview and validate customs declarations for accuracy and completenessProvide escalation support for complex or time‑sensitive customs issues impacting shipments or business continuityTraining and AwarenessDeliver customs compliance training for trade, supply chain, engineering, finance, and other cross‑functional teamsPromote awareness of compliance responsibilities across business functionsConduct in-person and remote facility assessments for complianceMinimum Qualifications & Requirements:4-year undergraduate degree in international business, supply chain, law or related field preferred5+ years of progressive experience in customs and trade compliance. Export compliance experience a plus. U.S. Customs Broker License preferableDemonstrated knowledge in U.S. customs laws, including classification, valuation, origin, cross border activities, FTAs, reconciliation, and tariff programsAbility to communicate complex regulatory requirements to technical and non‑technical audiencesProven ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and influence stakeholders at all organizational levelsExperience working in a multinational, regulated environment; defense, aerospace, or high‑technology industry experience preferredAbility to travel periodically to assigned company locations across the United StatesMust be a U.S. Person
