Cyber Security Analyst

You have experience investigating security alerts and incidents, and you want to work on the issues behind them too: clearer procedures, a stronger incident response plan and fewer recurring risks.For an international manufacturing organisation in the Waasland region, we are looking for an IT Security Analyst who will also help bring its security measures and documentation relating to NIS2 up to standard.An external SOC partner monitors the IT environment 24/7. You investigate the alerts it raises, determine what action is needed and follow incidents through to resolution. You will also have the opportunity to improve the organisation’s cybersecurity more broadly.What will you do?Analyse security alerts: identify false positives, decide what needs further investigation and recognise when immediate action is required.Follow up on security incidents with the external SOC partner and your IT colleagues. Afterwards, you look at how similar incidents can be prevented.Further develop the incident response plan and help test it.Create security policies and procedures, improve existing practices and keep the documentation clear and usable.Help translate NIS2 requirements into concrete measures. You assess what is already in place, identify gaps and document the steps taken.Work in a predominantly Microsoft-based environment, where Microsoft Defender and Intune are key tools.Contribute to security awareness among employees.You will support several international sites in a hybrid IT environment with on-premises infrastructure and cloud applications. Within the IT team, you will be the person dedicated to cybersecurity. You will work independently while collaborating closely with your IT colleagues and the external SOC partner.What do you bring?Several years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, for example in a SOC or a role involving the investigation of security alerts and incidents.The ability to assess an alert from a technical perspective, involve the right people and document the follow-up clearly.A working knowledge of NIS2 and the motivation to help turn its requirements into security measures, procedures and documentation.Experience with Microsoft Defender and/or Intune, or with comparable security tools.An interest in looking beyond individual incidents to improve processes and security measures.The ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues across IT.Good English communication skills, as English is the working language of the international team. Dutch is an advantage.Knowledge of Taegis, GDPR or ISO 27001 is a plus. You do not need to have covered every aspect of this broad role already. Practical security experience, a solid technical foundation and a willingness to learn matter most.What can you expect?You will receive a permanent contract and work on site in the Waasland region. After the onboarding period, you can generally work from home three days a week.Working hours are flexible, and there are opportunities to develop your cybersecurity skills further.Your salary package will depend on your experience.
