Data & Systems Analyst, Automation Focus, InvestmentsLocation: Sydney, NSWSalary guide: $90,000–$110,000 plus super, with growth potential based on capability and progressionA boutique Sydney-based family office is seeking a junior-to-intermediate Data & Systems Analyst to manage investment data reporting and process automation, and to support technology initiatives across the business.This role is designed for someone earlier in their career who has strong analytical foundations, solid technical curiosity, and the ambition to grow into a broader systems, automation, and business technology capability under direct mentorship from the CTO.Investment data knowledge is advantageous but not essential. The successful candidate will work alongside the investment team and build experience in this area over time, while the primary focus remains on technology-minded problem solving, process improvement, data discipline, and learning business systems quickly.Why This Role Is DifferentThis is not a traditional investment data operations role.It's a hands-on growth role for someone who wants exposure to business systems, workflow automation, reporting platforms, low-code tooling, light scripting, and practical AI-enabled process improvement inside a high-trust, private environment.You'll work closely with the CTO and gain structured exposure to platform operations, automation design, data workflows, systems thinking, and technology-led business improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-end management of monthly client investment reporting, including data preparation and workflow executionManagement of recurring data workflows: extraction, transformation, loading, validation, and reconciliation across internal reporting and operational systemsMaintain high-quality data across business platforms; investigate exceptions, breaks, incomplete records, and reporting anomaliesHelp build, maintain, and improve internal processes using Microsoft 365, Power Automate, Power Apps, Salesforce, SharePoint, and adjacent platformsContribute to documentation of workflows, business rules, integrations, and operating proceduresSupport internal users with system queries, recurring tasks, and process improvementsAssist with onboarding, data migration, cleanup, and technology change initiativesUse or support light scripting and code-based solutions to automate repetitive tasks and strengthen workflow efficiencyExplore practical uses of AI tools to improve document handling, data review, exception management, summarisation, and team productivity, under CTO guidanceWhat Success Looks Like in the First 12 MonthsDevelops a high level of understanding of client investment dataBecomes reliable in executing recurring workflows with good quality, consistency, and minimal supervisionBuilds working confidence across core business systems and stronger judgment around data quality and operational exceptionsContributes to measurable workflow improvements or small automations across reporting, filing, data preparation, validation, or exception handlingDevelops practical capability across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, selected Salesforce/reporting workflows, and basic scriptingCandidate ProfileThis role suits someone who is technology-driven, detail-oriented, commercially sensible, and motivated to grow into a broader systems and automation role.A strong candidate may come from business systems support, operations analysis, data operations, reporting support, technology operations, CRM administration, low-code automation, or another analytically strong and technically curious background. Direct investment management experience is helpful but not essential.Required Skills & Experience1–4 years of relevant experience in data operations, reporting support, business systems, operations analysis, reconciliations, automation support, or similarStrong attention to detail, especially with numerical data, repeatable processes, and system accuracyIntermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence across Microsoft 365 toolsBasic familiarity with code, scripting, or development concepts, with the ability to read, troubleshoot, or write light logicGood problem-solving ability and comfort learning new systems quicklyStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh discretion and professionalism handling confidential client informationQualificationsBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline preferredCandidates without a degree may still be considered with demonstrated relevant practical experienceAdditional certifications in Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Salesforce, data analytics, programming, or AI-related tools viewed favourably
