You will work across the end-to-end data lifecycle: integrating operational and third-party sources, building and maintaining reliable data pipelines, modelling data for analytics, supporting business intelligence, and operating the platform in production. The role is suited to an experienced engineer who can work independently and take meaningful ownership of a production data environment.Own, operate, and continuously improve OLX Lebanon's production data platform and its core ingestion, transformation, and serving workflowsDesign, build, maintain, and troubleshoot reliable batch and incremental data pipelines from operational databases, APIs, cloud storage, and third-party systemsDevelop and maintain scalable warehouse models across raw, staging, intermediate, dimensional, and reporting layersDevelop, optimize, and review SQL and Python used for ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, automation, and operational toolingBuild and maintain transformation-as-code workflows using dbt or comparable modern data transformation frameworksImplement robust production patterns including idempotent processing, retries, schema evolution, scheduling/orchestration, monitoring, alerting, and failure recoveryEnsure data quality and accuracy through automated tests, source-to-target reconciliation, freshness checks, and clear operational controlsOwn and support cloud data warehouse workloads, including performance, access, reliability, and cost optimisation Work with object storage and cloud services used for data ingestion and platform operations, particularly AWS/S3 and related servicesSupport Power BI and the analytics layer by providing well-modelled, documented, performant datasets and by helping build or troubleshoot reports when requiredPartner closely with OLX Data Team as they own business requirements, metric interpretation, and an increasing share of Power BI dashboard developmentCollaborate with product, engineering, marketing, growth, finance, advertising, and other business teams through the analytics team where appropriateApply strong software-engineering practices including Git-based version control, code review, testing, documentation, deployment discipline, and reusable designMaintain appropriate data access, privacy, security, and governance controls for sensitive and business-critical dataDocument pipelines, models, dependencies, operational procedures, and architecture so that the platform can be supported by more than one engineerRequirementsHold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experienceApproximately 4+ years of relevant data engineering experience for mid-senior candidates; Senior candidates should demonstrate deeper independent ownership rather than relying on years aloneHands-on experience building and operating production ETL/ELT pipelines and cloud-based analytical data platformsStrong experience with at least one modern cloud data warehouse or lakehouse platform such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, Databricks, or equivalentStrong hands-on SQL and Python experienceFamiliar with dimensional modelling, analytical warehouse design, and working with large-scale datasetsUnderstanding of dbt is strongly preferred; equivalent transformation-as-code approaches or strong SQL modelling understanding is acceptableUnderstanding of cloud infrastructure and object storage conceptsComfortable with BI and analytics workflows; familiarity with Power BI is a plusExcellent SQL and strong Python engineering skillsAbility to diagnose production data issues independently across ingestion, transformation, warehouse, and BI layersStrong Git, code review, testing, documentation, and software-engineering practicesAbility to balance reliability, performance, maintainability, and cloud costAbility to communicate technical issues clearly to analysts, engineers, managers, and non-technical stakeholdersStrong written and verbal English.
