Data Engineer - Snowflake - Full Time

About the RoleWe are looking for a Snowflake Data Engineer on a Full Time basis to help build and maintain a cloud data warehouse and pipelines. This is a hands on role that involves taking ownership of moderately complex data engineering tasks, working closely with senior engineers on architecture decisions and partnering with analysts and data scientists to deliver reliable, well modelled data.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines feeding into SnowflakeDevelop and optimise Snowflake data models, including star and snowflake schemas and staging/curated layersWrite efficient SQL and use Snowflake features such as Streams, Tasks and Snowpipe for automationManage data ingestion from APIs, files and databases using tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte or custom scriptsImplement transformation logic using dbt or similar frameworksMonitor and optimise warehouse performance, query efficiency and credit/cost usageImplement data quality checks and basic monitoring/alerting for pipeline healthSupport role based access control, data governance and security within SnowflakeParticipate in code reviews, follow CI/CD practices and maintain version control via GitTroubleshoot pipeline failures and data quality issues, escalating complex problems as neededDocument pipelines, data models and processes for team and stakeholder referenceCollaborate with analysts and data scientists to understand data requirements and deliver fit for purpose datasetsTechnical Skills Required5 to 7 years of experience in data engineering, including at least 2 to 3 years working directly with SnowflakeStrong SQL skills and experience with relational or cloud data warehousesUnderstanding of dimensional data modelling and ETL/ELT design principlesExperience with at least one ELT/transformation tool, dbt preferredFamiliarity with a cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP) that Snowflake runs onExperience with Git based version control and basic CI/CD workflowsWorking knowledge of Python or another scripting language for automationDesirable SkillsSnowPro Core CertificationExperience with Snowflake native features including Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, Time Travel and Zero Copy CloningFamiliarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster or Snowflake TasksExposure to data ingestion tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte or MatillionBasic understanding of streaming data conceptsSalaryCAD $110,000 - $135,000 Depending on Experience
