Data Engineer (SQL)

We are seeking a highly experienced T-SQL Programmer / Data Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting SQL Server-based data solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in T-SQL programming, SQL performance tuning, stored procedure development, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and production troubleshooting. This role is primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server and requires a strong ability to write efficient, scalable, and maintainable database code that supports business-critical applications, reporting platforms, and data integration pipelines.Key ResponsibilitiesT-SQL Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain complex T-SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, dynamic SQL, and batch processing logic for SQL Server environments.SQL Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize slow-running queries, execution plans, indexes, statistics, joins, tempdb usage, locking, blocking, deadlocks, parameter sniffing issues, and high-volume transactional workloads.Data Engineering: Build and support data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, validation, and integration processes using SQL Server-based patterns and related tools such as SSIS, SQL Agent jobs, staging tables, and reconciliation logic.Database Design and Data Modeling: Design normalized and dimensional database structures, develop efficient table schemas, define keys and constraints, and create scalable database objects aligned with application and reporting requirements.Production Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve SQL Server production issues related to code defects, data discrepancies, performance degradation, job failures, transaction handling, and data integrity.Automation and Maintainability: Develop reusable scripts, coding standards, deployment scripts, monitoring queries, and automated validation routines to improve reliability, supportability, and delivery efficiency.QualificationsExperience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a T-SQL Programmer, SQL Developer, Data Engineer, or similar role, with primary expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.

Technical Skills

Expert-level proficiency in T-SQL programming, stored procedure development, SQL Server query tuning, indexing strategy, execution plan analysis, transaction handling, and relational database design.Preferred Skills: Experience with SSIS, SQL Server Agent, Azure SQL Database, data warehousing concepts, reporting data models, source control, release management, and cloud-based data platforms is a plus.Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with application developers, DBAs, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver reliable database solutions.EducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field; equivalent hands-on SQL Server development experience will also be considered.
