Data Governance Specialist

Profectus is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Data Governance Specialists for likely future opportunities across the Australian Government. The work is likely to require setting up and running data governance arrangements, including data ownership and stewardship, data standards, metadata and data quality management, and the policies that control how data is shared and used.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain data governance policies, standards and proceduresDefine data ownership, custodianship and stewardship rolesSet up and support data governance committees and decision processesBuild and maintain data catalogues, business glossaries and metadataDefine data quality rules and monitor data quality issuesAssess data sharing requests against legislative, privacy and policy requirementsSupport data classification and handling in line with government requirementsAssess data governance maturity and recommend improvementsProvide data governance guidance to program and delivery teamsRequired ExperienceMinimum five years in data governance or data management rolesDeveloping data governance policies, standards and operating modelsData ownership and stewardship modelsMetadata management and data cataloguesData quality managementData sharing, privacy and information management requirementsStakeholder engagement across business and technical teamsDesirable ExperienceDAMA CDMP certification or working knowledge of DAMA-DMBOKData governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra or AlationData Availability and Transparency Act 2022 or Five Safes frameworkGovernment or other regulated-industry data programsSecurity Clearance RequirementsMust be an Australian CitizenMust hold a current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (minimum)Working ArrangementsHybridCanberra Why ProfectusProfectus partners with Australian Government agencies to deliver trusted ICT capability across complex delivery programs.
