Data Modeler Lead

Responsibilities

Design, and maintain Data Models for the data warehouse, data marts, staging areas, operational data store, and big data platform.Applies Data Naming Standards, checks models in and out of Model Repository, and documents data model translation decisions.Use of data profiling tools and techniques and development of review and QA data requirements.Work with business and application/solution teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models.Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices.Set standards for document naming, security, and lifecycle & retention architecture.Assists the DBA in developing the physical data model and the implementation of operational data store (ODS), data marts, and data lakes.Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models.Identify the architecture, infrastructure, and interfaces to data sources, tools supporting automated data loads, security concerns, analytic models, and data visualization.Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies for the organization.Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer/data science technical or related experience.Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in related field of expertise.Strong project management and organizational skills.Expert knowledge of data warehouse modeling skills (i.e. conceptual, logical and physical model design), experience with Operational Data Stores, Enterprise Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Big Data Platform.Expert knowledge of metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (Erwin or ER Studio or others) required.Hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and sandbox POC.Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.Expert knowledge of SQL, 3rd normal form relational concepts (OLTP) and dimensional (OLAP) database design concepts, and all phases of the system development life cycle.Experience working with dimensionally modeled data.Ability to work within an Agile Development Methodology.Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts required.Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) to represent insights.
