Project Manager IT – Data & Privacy

Location: Torrance, CAWork Model: Hybrid – 4 days per week onsiteTravel: Up to 5%Overtime: NoAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager with strong experience delivering complex Data, Privacy, Advanced Analytics, and Digital Transformation initiatives.The successful candidate will plan, execute, and oversee technology and data platform projects within a global services and data platform environment.

This role will coordinate scope, schedules, resources, budgets, risks, and deliverables while ensuring projects meet organizational governance, quality, security, and privacy requirements.The ideal candidate is comfortable working across business, technology, data, cybersecurity, privacy, legal, and governance teams and has a strong background in Agile/Scrum project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Planning & ExecutionDevelop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, work breakdown structures, and deliverables.Coordinate cross-functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.Ensure projects remain aligned with approved scope, objectives, timelines, and quality expectations.Data Privacy & ComplianceLead projects involving data privacy, regulatory compliance, and privacy-by-design initiatives.Coordinate privacy assessments, security checkpoints, and compliance reviews.Partner with Legal, Information Security, Data Governance, and business teams to ensure appropriate handling of PII, sensitive data, and regulated datasets.Oversee implementation of privacy controls such as access restrictions, data masking, minimization, retention workflows, and audit traceability.Ensure privacy requirements are incorporated into user stories, backlog items, acceptance criteria, and Definition of Done.Agile & Scrum LeadershipFacilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Partner with Product Owners to prioritize backlogs covering feature delivery, data quality, compliance, and privacy controls.Identify and remove technical, process, and privacy-related blockers.Help teams improve Agile maturity while maintaining governance and compliance standards.Stakeholder ManagementServe as the primary coordination point between business stakeholders, Product Owners, technical teams, and leadership.Lead project meetings, status reviews, and decision forums.Communicate project progress, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and impacts to technical and executive audiences.Scope, Schedule & Risk ManagementMonitor project progress against approved plans.Identify and manage scope, schedule, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and change requests.Escalate issues and risks in accordance with established project governance processes.Financial & Resource ManagementTrack project budgets, forecasts, resource allocations, and staffing requirements.Support financial reporting, cost monitoring, and resource planning with leadership and finance teams.Governance & QualityEnsure project deliverables meet acceptance criteria, quality standards, governance requirements, and compliance expectations.Maintain accurate project documentation for organizational, audit, and compliance purposes.Data, AI & Advanced AnalyticsLead end-to-end delivery of data pipelines, data modeling, analytics solutions, dashboards, and data modernization initiatives.Coordinate work across data engineering, BI, data governance, QA, product, and business teams.Ensure data governance practices—including metadata, documentation, lineage, and data quality—are incorporated throughout project delivery.Manage dependencies across systems and teams to ensure data solutions integrate securely and effectively.Operational Transition & Continuous ImprovementCoordinate knowledge transfer, documentation, and operational handoffs.Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve project delivery processes, tools, and methodologies.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.7+ years of IT project management experience in technology, data, digital platforms, enterprise applications, or related environments.Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional technology and data teams.Experience delivering projects using Agile, Waterfall, and/or Hybrid project management methodologies.Strong understanding of data privacy, data governance, security, and compliance concepts.Experience managing complex data, analytics, digital transformation, or technology initiatives.Strong project planning, risk management, issue resolution, and stakeholder management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive audiences.Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.Preferred Skills & ExperienceExperience with Privacy, PII, data protection, regulatory compliance, or privacy-by-design initiatives.Experience working with Data & Advanced Analytics, AI, BI, data platforms, or data modernization projects.Experience working with Legal, Information Security, Data Governance, and Compliance teams.Experience with project management and tracking tools such as Jira, MS Project, Clarity, or similar platforms.Experience working in enterprise-scale technology environments.Key Performance IndicatorsSuccess in this role will be measured by:On-time delivery of project milestones and deliverables.Adherence to approved scope,
