We are currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation based in Cheshire, who are recruiting for a Data Protection Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.The role offers a salary of £48,000 - £53,000 per annum, and hybrid working (3 days per week in the office, 2 days per week working from home).The successful candidate will be responsible for providing subject matter expert advice and guidance in all matters in relation to the management of information whilst overseeing and monitoring information standards and where possible introducing best practice.The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role managing information governance, GDPR/data protection and Freedom of Information requirements, alongside experience managing compliance processes, individual rights requests and data breach investigations. They will also have experience developing and delivering information governance and data protection training, guidance and awareness materials.Duties will include (but are not limited to):Providing expert advice on data protection, information governance, records management and information security, ensuring compliance with GDPR and relevant legislationLeading data protection compliance, acting as the key point of contact between the organisation, data subjects and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)Managing information rights and requests, including Subject Access Requests, Freedom of Information requests, complex information requests and appropriate application of exemptionsDeveloping and overseeing policies, procedures and governance frameworks for information management, including records retention, disposal, DPIAs, Records of Processing Activities and information sharing agreementsIdentifying, assessing and mitigating information risks, working closely with the Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO), IT and service areas to ensure appropriate controls and secure handling of informationLeading and promoting information compliance across the organisation, providing training, monitoring legislative changes, supporting M365/Purview governance and representing the service at regional and national forumsExperience required:Experience in a similar role managing information governance, GDPR/data protection and Freedom of Information requirementsManaging individual rights requests and supporting data breach investigationsDeveloping and delivering information governance and data protection training and awareness materialsSkills, knowledge and expertise required:Strong working knowledge of UK Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and Information Commissioner’s Office guidanceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf motivated and able to manage and prioritise own workloadStrong decision-making skills, utilising data and insight effectivelyStrong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlinesRewards and Benefits:26 days, plus eight bank holiday days, this increases to 31 days after five years of serviceFree gym access and leisure centre discountBlue light cardEnhanced special leave payments (including maternity, paternity and adoption pay)Access to health cash plan and employee assistance programmeWorking hours:37 hours per weekMonday – Friday, 9am-5pmPlease note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.James Andrews is acting as an employment agency and business in relation to this role.At James Andrews Recruitment Solutions we try to respond to all applications personally, however, due to the high volume of applications this is not always possible.
